04/25/13 - 2013 NFL DRAFT: SIX GUYS WHO MAY SNEAK INTO THE FIRST ROUND: 4. Kyle Long, OG/OT Oregon: Many have claimed his best position in pro football is guard and it may very well be true. But I had an offensive line coach tell me he really likes Long as a right tackle and was impressed with how much the former Ducks player understood about the position after just five major college starts. If that o-line coach has any say in the draft he wants Long in the second round. - Pat Kirwan, CBSSports.com

SECOND ROUND

For the guy hyping him.

"I was wrong" is shorter to type.

The guy who applauds this pick has no business talking about being wrong. If you don't understand the concept of value that's on you, not me.

Vikings killing it.

But their offense is going to suck.

Gotta love the talk of BPA and then pretending this want awful.

They set themselves up amazingly to be able to do BPA and then they do this. I am still not sure if this is just a nightmare and not real life.

What do you actually know about Kyle Long, outside of his name and the position he played in college last year?

If Vikings don't take him, is Te'o going to drop out of the first?

Baltimore may take him.

Can't believe they'd want that [expletive] right after Ray Lewis retires.

How is he wrong? A guy who is high on him says he wants him in the second.

That doesn't exactly necessarily represent the consensus or reality.

Watch the Bears make the drama complete and get Te'o in the 2nd rd.

Not bad value there.

And the guy that can't read has no business talking about the concept of anything. I said.....it was a reach. It was a bad pick. Yes, I'm applauding the pick as we speak.

How does Werner fit into a 3-4? I doubt he's nearly athletic enough to be an OLB.

He can play DE in a 3 front can't he?

I guess. Probably a little small though.

Are you positing that this pick wasn't a reach? Are you saying he was the best player available when the Bears selected? He is should help them win more games than anybody else who could have been selected?

Te'o probably a decent pick there, but I get the joke :)

But there is close to a consensus out there on the web. Nobody had him as a 3rd round pick, which is what Goony was wrong about. He can add his caveats like, "it's only because the run on OL" but he's still not right calling him a 3rd round pick.

I'm positing that your opinion on what is or isn't a reach is completely worthless if you don't actually know anything about the players in question.

Dude, the point is it's time to call a spade a spade on this kind of [expletive] pick. That's a terrible pick at that point in the draft, and yes you can talk about good things the kid might do, or talk about how he might actually pan out.

It's still a bad pick, and I guess I'm expecting you of all people to understand that and not try to rationalize it.

if baseball fans can't have an opinion on the drafting of a player they haven't seen play firsthand, then pretty much nobody can criticize any selection of a high school player except for the 12 guys who fly/drive around the country watching them.

pretty much all of the people who make a living evaluating college football players and assessing their draft stock think that the pick was a reach. that's plenty of reason to think it was a poor selection, even if you haven't watched every game the guy has played.
