What would Cutler's QB rating be for the season if you take out the Packers game? I know every QB has a bad game or 2 every year, but just curious to know.

94.7 Forgot to take out the GB game TD

96.47

Yes but he's still way too moody in those games to be successful.

yay

still feels a little 2001-y, but whaddayagonnado can't complain about domination

wish the offensive line was better

Check out the DVOAs and tell me this team looks 2001-y.

taking a look at Cutler in his postgame PC, this mustache thing is going to provide even more unintentional comedy than I originally thought.

This team could have easily scored 60 today too considering the fumble turnover by Cutler late in the 1st when the Bears were at the 15 yard line or so, and then of course the 4th and goal inside the 10 on that last possession in the 4th when they decided to run out the clock instead of running up the score.

Been checking DVOA every week, and the negative offensive DVOA is troubling. Hadn't stacked it up to 2001 until now. It's interesting: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2004/2001-dvoa-ratings-and-commentary

2012 Bears are clearly better compared to their competition on defense, much better (Their DVOA on defense is otherworldy, historic, which I think even the biggest fan of the defense can agree with, isn't the Greatest of All Time Great, though in this day and age with how easily offenses can move, perhaps?) . Offense is just as bad (actually 2012 is a little worse, but we'll see how it shakes up after this game), special teams are both great.

Negative offensive DVOA might be "troubling" but the Bears havent finished with a positive offensive DVOA since 1995.

I'm not sure you can compare DVOA numbers from year to year (isn't the number relative to the other teams in the league) but a -12.5 DVOA rating before todays game would be third best for the Bears since 2001 (only 2006 and 2008 were better). I'm guessing it will be a little bit higher after today, despite the good numbers coming against a poor defense.

Marshall is now at 60 catches for 798 yards and 7 TDs. I think someone else a page or two back posted his projected stats (which is just double everything at this point) but needless to say, Marshall is on pace to become the Bears single season leader in all 3 categories. Here is what he needs to do in the last 8 games

Receptions:

Currently: 60 catches

Pace: 120

Record: 100 (Marty Booker - 2001)

Needs: 41 to break

Average: 5.1 catches per game

Yards:

Currently: 798 yards

Pace: 1,596

Record: 1,400 (Marcus Robinson - 1999)

Needs: 603 yards to break

Average: 75.4 yards per game

Touchdowns:

Currently: 7 touchdowns

Pace: 14

Record: 13 (Dick Gordon - 1970/Ken Kavanaugh - 1947)

Needs: 7 touchdowns to break

Average: 0.9 touchdowns per game

Last year Forte led with 51 catches, Knox led with 727 yards, Davis led with 5 TDs

To go along with our sad state of non running back offensive history, Jay is getting close to a lot of career passing records for the Bears.

I doubt these are updated through today, they are from pro-football-reference.com

Completions

1. Jim Harbaugh - 1,023 in 89 games

4. Jay Cutler - 904 in 48 games

Yards

1. Sid Luckman - 14,686 in 128 games

4. Jay Cutler - 10,804 in 48 games

Touchdowns

1. Sid Luckman - 137 in 128 games

2. Jay Cutler - 72 in 48 games

With 3 season without a #1 receiver and 3.5 season with a crap o-line

Great game. I've heard about every Bear defensive player this season making great highlight reel plays, but this was the first I had heard of Urlacher. He looked really slow in the INT return even though it was a fantastic play. How is Urlacher playing? I know the Tampa 2 doesn't showcase Brian, but it just seems like he a shell of his former self. Has the knee progressed or regressed since week 1?

it absolutely showcases urlacher's coverage skills. the fact that opposing teams haven't been abusing the middle of the field passing-wise speaks to his continuing ability to get the job done. you think the defense would look like this if they had some guy can't play patrolling the middle of the field? come on, rumors of his demise are greatly exaggerated.
