Yup.

 

The HR variation is pretty extreme.

 

Which is even stranger considering the park he was pitching in. Also, the K/9 (barely 6 vs. 7+) and WHIP (.28 lower) are pretty extremely different. Like N&G said, as a whole the season isn't even really an outlier, but good lord, the stark contrast in numbers, especially ERA (yes, I know), between the two teams he was with is mind bottling.

i thought the cubs losing 90+ games last year and the cards winning the WS would be rock bottom, and once we hired theo that it would be our climb back. if the cards win another miraculous WS after the cubs lose 100+, i guess rock bottom was a little lower than i thought.

 

This whole thing wouldn't piss me off nearly as much if they were consistently putting up 100+ win seasons. But the horseshit records/lineups they've won with in '06 and '11 and now this year are just so beyond ridiculous.

On GRB cubs fans are remarkably cool, intelligent and level headed. But day to day, they are like this thread. clinically insane.

Somewhere between pixie dust and thinking the Cards have been just that good the past few years lies the truth.

 

They have been a very shrewd franchise that has made the most of their market standing, and placed themselves in favorable positions with regularity because of it. But they have gotten more than their fair share of positive breaks, with a knack for consistently advancing past teams with superior rosters in often improbable fashion. This cannot be denied.

 

But when a team is in or around contention consistently, good things can happen, which should be the takeaway.

Why is Cubs ownership and leadership to blame for the Cardinals miraculous unreasonable winning?

 

The Cardinals made the playoffs by two games while going 10-7 against a Cubs team that wasn't even trying.

Can't wait until the current Cardinals all disperse via huge contracts and become huge busts for their respective teams as the Cardinals assemble another World Series team using guys nobody had heard of 6 months prior.

 

This is what pisses me off the most.
