Looking at more of his comments, it sounds like he still wants to play he just feels like crap right now.

"It depends on how long," he said prior to Wednesday's season finale. "If they want to rebuild next year, I'll be here. If they want to take longer than two years, I have to think about moving to another team that can win quickly. I have two more years on the contract, and maybe I'll retire after that. I want to have one more shot to get to the World Series before I retire."

Retire?

"I just say that -- the way I feel now, I wish it could be my No. 8 year on my contract, so I could retire today," said Soriano, weary from the season. "There's two more years left."

So he's not going to play when he's 40?

"I don't think so," he said. "I think two more years -- it depends on how I feel. If I feel like I feel now in two years, I'll want to retire right away."

Hold up a second here. Didn't this mental midget pass on at least one opportunity to be traded to a contender in the past 6 weeks or so? There's little chance the Cubs are WS contenders before his last two years are up. Surely he has to see that, right?

Pretty sure there were no trades on the table for Soriano. I think he came out and said he wouldn't want to play in San Fran but I don't think they ever offered anything.

Pretty sure everybody knew he turned down trades to San Fran and Pittsburgh.

I just did a quick search, guess he did use his 10-5 rights and declined a trade to the Giants. I didn't see anything on him declining a trade to the Pirates, however.

How is Soriano a "mental midget" exactly?

Flawed player who got overpaid? Sure (though he has been a good player with Cubs for most seasons) but I don't get the claim that he's mentally weak.

Have you seen how not-gritty he is? He doesn't play the game right way. He's not a gamer. He's more of a natural athlete, if you know what I mean.

Never said he was mentally weak, just an idiot. Big difference.

Why is he an idiot?

He's referring to a specific instance of nonsense here, I believe. Soriano saying he wants one last chance to play for a contender a few weeks after refusing a trade to SF can certainly be interpreted as a bit goofy.

This. Plus he's a fan of professional wrestling.
