Kind of interesting to see how interleague is spread throughout the year. The Rangers come to Wrigley in mid-April, 2 at The Cell May 27-28th followed by 2 vs the Sox in Wrigley May 29 and 30th. We play 2 in Anaheim June 4th and 5th, the newly AL Astros come to town June 21-23, Three in Seattle June 28-30th, three in Oakland July 2-4th, 2 at home against the Angels a week later, and that seems to be it.

My biggest gripe as a player would be the 2-game series in Anaheim in the middle of a homestand. Sure you get a travel day on each end, but that is ugly.

It also seems there are a lot more off days during homestands and at the beginning and ends of them. There is only one off day in the middle of a road trip, and that's the day after Opening Day. I would think the players would appreciate this new development.

Yeah, it's like that just got shoehorned in there.

Also 14 of the last 20 will be on the road. Ouch.

Doubt it will matter. The plan doesn't look like it calls for us to really be in contention next year.

What is so ugly? 2 off days within a 4 days stretch. You fly out to Cali, get rest, play 2 games and fly back, and get more rest. That's better than flying to anaheim, playing three, flying to Seattle and playing three then returning home with only 1 off day in between.

By contrast the Royals have 6 off days in the middle of road trips (one of them being the day after Opening Day), so apparently this isn't a league-wide occurrence.

2 at The Cell May 27-28th followed by 2 vs the Sox in Wrigley May 29 and 30th.

I like that concept

I do, too. Very unique to split a 4-game series up like that.

I just wish there would be more interleague games total. There should be 30, not 20. And spread them out more. I don't know if we're the only team who is done with IL play by the middle of July, but it's kind of disappointing to me.

I'm a traditionalist in most cases (hate the DH, etc) but I think IL play is one of the best things that has happened to the game in my lifetime. That and the Wild Card.

Nice. San Diego and San Francisco on weekends plus the rare visit to Anaheim. I can't stand Dodger Stadium.

I disagree. I like interleague play as it is now. Part of its value is in its not being common.

Even 30 games a year wouldn't make it "common." That's less than 20% of the schedule. Each NFL team plays 4 games (25%) a year against the other conference and nobody complains then.

I just like IL play for the unusual matchups, and the chance to see players from the other league that I either haven't seen before or rarely get the chance to see. That's why I like it when the Packers play AFC teams during the year. I don't get the chance to see a lot of those guys any other time and it's nice to have the opportunity to watch.

I've posted this before, but you can't tell me at all that MLB can't swing this schedule:

*18 games per year against each of the the other 4 teams in your division (72 games)

*6 games per year against each of the other non-division teams in your league (60 games)

*30 interleague games (a 3-game home and home series against five AL teams.) 30 games.

72+60+30= 162. Done, and simple as hell.

I can't take credit for that idea, as I saw it posted here on NSBB long ago by I think Rocket, but it works and I'd be 100% in favor of it.

For those who are wanting to do the 3 games, 3 stadiums in 2 days. It looks like June 6 night game in Milwaukee, June 7 day game at Wrigley and June 7 night game at the Cell is your best bet.

Brewers have a homestand from June 3-9, Cubs June 7-13 and Sox June 6-12.

Another possibility is 8/14 Cubs/Sox games (but unlikely because one would have to be a day game and one a night game on a weekday) and 8/15 in Milwaukee. Who knows, you might be able to squeeze in a Bears and/or Packers preseason games just before or after these dates and just go all crazy.

Scheduling that is a lot more complicated than you would think, unless you're willing to play teams outside your division 2 games in one stadium and 4 games in the other.

If that's what it would take. Just make sure it's the reverse the next year.

I'd also be ok with a 10/8 home/road split with the division games I proposed if necessary, just so long as, again, it was reversed the next year (10 in Wrigley, 8 in St. Louis in 2013, then 8 in Wrigley and 10 in St. Louis in 2014 if you have to, etc).

Nobody can justify the statement that they don't have the opportunity to see these others players in today's modern game.

Your desire for more IL doesn't resonate with me. I want the least amount of IL play necessary to be able to play one series at all times so that we can have the 15/15 set-up.

Interesting. I never like to rent a car when I make the trip up to Chicago, so is there a train or shuttle to and from Milwaukee? If so, anyone know where I could look for that?

I know there's an Amtrak that runs that route.

Agreed. IL is necessary but not desirable. It stopped being fun somewhere around 2004.

I'm not really a traditionalist (anymore) but I kind of liked when the two leagues never played until the World Series (or the All-Star game if you want to count that).

Then again, this is kind of unique and cool too. Maybe I just like baseball.

I do with the leagues had the same rules now though.
