Also I think part of the reason the "Chicago environment for QB's" is worse than other markets is that the Bears have had almost entirely [expletive] QB's the last 10+ years

10+++X10+++

Cutler would take heat in any market until he wins a super bowl in that market, and even in several of those markets he would continue to take heat after winning a super bowl.

I basically said that in my first sentence, other than the SB part. And yeah I might have undersold the crapfest that has been the Bears QB situation by a good 20 years.

It just makes the distinction clearer to me -- how much better Cutler is than what the Bears have had. To me, that horrible QB history just gives less of a reason to carry it over to Jay Cutler.

You'd think that would be the case. But it must be some learned/conditioned thing over time that since they've been cursed with awful QB play that they must hate all QB's and pick them apart and every bad thing they do or trait they dislike is 100x more magnified than any sort of good trait/skill/talent/stats/etc.

I don't think it is that as much as it is the natural (or maybe learned) state of all football fans to hate a QB like Cutler. He doesn't fit the personality profile most want him to have, and he has had a tendency to turn the ball over at alarming rates. So fans of his team are not going to like him.

The ref crew that did the Broncos-Steelers game last night will handle the Bears game on Thursday night.

Did anyone watch last night's game? We're they ok? I'm assuming since they did the Sunday night prime time game that they're one of the top 2-3 crews.

Fox ranted and raved a few times, but I seem to recall the things he was getting upset about typically ended up going his way in the end.

The thing that I seem to perceive is that with this new group, these refs are willing to call the little things that might normally be forgiven by the veteran crew.

I think Marshall and Jeffrey will physically manhandle the GB corners.

Also GB would be wise not to blitz with Woodson as much as they did versus the 49ers, because the Bears WRs will make them pay in a big way.

31-20 Bears.

Man that "Forte unhappy" thing is so annoying. From the context of the article, it seems like he was responding to a direct question about the carries and he told the truth. But there's no way of determining the tone that he said it is, and I don't seen any quotes other than the one or two sentences reported by Cowley.

Now the story is on the front page of ESPN.com and NFL.com, and I'm sure various other places, and it makes it seem like he's a disgruntal player. I have a hard time believing that he is just now realizing that signing Bush would limit Forte's goal line carries, especially because Marion Barber had a similar role last year.

I know right, I'm hoping this optimism can continue with a Bears blowout and a Rodgers concussion a la Julius Peppers.

O/U set for 49.5 this game....could never take that Over. Ridiculous high.

That seems low to me. The Bears scored 41 by themselves last week and it's not like Green Bay has a great defense.

Yeah, I think it goes over by a decent amount. Only needs to be 27-23 to go over, that doesn't seem like an unattainable score at all with these two teams offenses/defenses.

Hilarious that we get popped down for playing (and dominating) the team on our schedule. Makes sense. And the Redskins ahead of us, LOL.

Lions and Eagles don't get punished for squeakers against bad teams though. In fact they even say "a win is a win" in regards to the Eagles.

The Giants might not even be the 7th best team in the NFC.

I'm ok with the SB Champs getting a little extra love though, if everything else is more or less valid.

I think the media is making it a bigger deal than it is. No surprise.

But, if Forte is unhappy he really has no room to complain. In his last 33 carries inside the 5 yard line, he's only scored a touchdown 3 times.
