Rizzo with a HR to deep left center

Glad he's heating up a bit again.

Every position player on the Nats roster has now homered in this series.

So is there anyone left who'd like to see more of Justin Germano? No? Alrighty, moving right along then.

Sadly, I don't think there are many better options or guys that really are worth taking a look at. Especially because someone is going to have to step in for Samardzija soon.

What happened?

benches cleared

Who started it?

My money is on Miguel Socolovich, just because I have no [expletive] idea who he is or where he came from and he possibly could be Russian

We were upset that Werth swung at 3-0 pitch with a 5 run lead and bases loaded in the 5th. Isnt it worse to take pitches/walks if you are worried at running up the score? Pitch was a strike but not down the middle. I dont get it. More embarrassing to walk in a run.

Is Vitters reaching historically bad proportions now? I can't ever recall an offensive player looking so inept.

that's fair to say...Vitters has a -21.6 UZR/150 and a -24 OPS+

he has the same fWAR as Dee Gordon (-1.2), he of the 327 PAs of .229/.280/.282 and -13.3 UZR

Not exactly sure as I didn't watch the game (who has?) and only saw highlights. But, from what I saw, Clevenger exchanged his glove during the middle of the Nationals' bottom half of the inning and their third base coach, Bo Porter walked over to the Cubs' dugout and had some choice words for Cubs bench coach Jamie Quirk and the benches cleared. Quirk got tossed but Porter was allowed to remain in the game. Not sure if it was the next inning or not, but the Cubs pitcher threw at Bryce Harper and the benches cleared again.

The Nats color guy was ripping on the Cubs during the brawl and resulting aftermath. At one point he mentioned how classy it was for the Cubs to throw at "a teenager" (Harper). Then he was talking about how the Cubs got their butts beat in all week (true) and responded by throwing at hitters and mentioned several times how this was an embarrassment for the entire Cubs organization. He was also appalled that Castillo was allowed to remain in the game and how unfair it was that their pitchers couldn't throw at a Cub now (because warnings were issued). There was more...much of it he was trying to mention Cubs futility as much as possible (51-85, 3 wins in 22 road games since the ASB, etc). If u check out the video on MLB.com, the whole thing is there.
