My [expletive] options for flex:

Boldin vs CIN

Rice @ ARI

Helu @ NO

Bush vs IND (Blowout potential?)

Assuming that's Sidney Rice? While, I do like his potential this year if he's healthy and with Russell Wilson keeping plays alive, I would wait til he proves it before starting him. Boldin's the safest bet out of those 4.

Cutler (vs IND) or Romo (@ NYG)

Mike Wallace (@ DEN), Eric Decker (vs PIT), or Vincent Jackson (vs CAR)

I'd probably go Romo and Decker. Romo and Cutler are close, but when in doubt, go with the guy you drafted first...you did so for a reason, and I'm assuming you picked Romo up first. Plus, Cutler is more likely to have his team running the ball late while Romo is more likely to have to throw late to keep up with the Giants. As for WR, I'd take Decker because he's been in camp longer. Got a good rapport with Manning (2 TDs last preseason game they played), and Wallace has been in camp a week. Steelers also have a horrible pass D.

Need a flex as well:

Demaryius Thomas vs. Pit

Garcon @ NO

Denarius Moore (Q) vs. SD

Benson vs. SF

Gerhart vs. Jacksonville

Probably go Demaryius. Again, bad Pitt pass D. Assuming no Ryan Clark in Denver. Gerhart wasn't really that good when he was the only RB. Peterson will at least get 1/2 the carries, so I wouldn't start him. Garcon would be my 2nd choice.

So contrary to my intentions I ended up with a load of meh RBs, and now I get to torture myself with my sit/start decision each week.

I need 1 RB and 1 Flex

Law Firm @ Bal

Ridley @ Ten

DeAngelo Williams @ TB

Redman @ Den

K Smith v. StL

Torrey Smith v. Cin

Denarius Moore v. SD

Trying to decide between Law Firm, Ridley, and Smith, but figured I'd throw the whole list there to see if anyone felt strongly about the alternatives.

I keep going back and forth on two options.

Kevin Smith vs STL or Fred Jackson @ NYJ (right now I am leaning toward K. Smith with these matchups, despite liking Fred Jackson much more overall)

Wes Welker @ TEN or Dez Bryant @ NYG

Need to fill a flex spot and I keep waffling. Reasonable options:

Cedric Benson

Michael Bush

Miles Austin

Titus Young

Also, I have Hakeem Nicks starting. Gambling he'll still be effective this week coming off injury.

I might need to start one of Gerhart/Benson anyways because Lynch is probably out. SWEET LIFE.

Gerhart seems like a decent play this week. I wouldnt' want Benson against the 49ers D though.

Austin is back at practice and appears reasonably healthy (for him). I would gamble on him this week with no Witten to take targets away.

What do your receivers look like that you have to decide between Welker and Bryant? No flex spot? I would assume you would start both? Dez Bryant if you can only have 1. You must have a pretty stacked team. I would go Fred Jackson over Smith. I just hate Lions RBs.

Schefter just retweeted that Witten is volunteering to sign a medical waiver to play tonight. I have him too...hmmm...

They're nuts if they let him play. If he does I guess I gotta go Titus Young but it would be essentially a Young/Austin coin flip. Unless you're in a league that really rates TDs high in which case Benson/Bush are more appealing. I don't think either gets much yardage but both probably get a TD.

Stupid question, but what is a "Flex"?

Instead of a 3rd WR spot in our league, we use a flex. In our league it's a WR/TE/RB spot. You can use any of those 3 types of players in that spot. There's different variations of what's allowed in that spot. Some leagues will only allow 2 of those 3 positions. Sometimes a 2nd QB is allowed.

I have Witten and Olsen. I really think Witten is going to actually play and I'm going to have to put him back in my starting lineup.

V-Jax vs. CAR or Torrey Smith vs. CIN?

I have Jackson in there now as I think that game will be a shootout. Talk me out of it. Or don't.

Who should start at QB for me in week 1? Rodgers is playing SF and they have a very good defense. Cutler is playing Indy and they have a poorly rated defense...

Don't overthink it. Play your stars unless they're hurt, or unless you get halfway through the season and they're having a bad year. Playing matchups is for your second RB and WR, not the guy you drafted #1 overall.

Well, in my league we start a combination of 4 RB's and WR's--there must be 1 of each, but other than that, you could do 3 RB, 1 WR. I am starting 3 RB's, so was deciding between those two as my 1 receiver for the week.

I hate Lions running backs as well. I drafted Smith specifically for early in the season when he is the only option, and the Rams were one of the worst Rush D's last year... I imagine the Lions will get a big lead and maybe run the ball more after that. But I think that hate is making it difficult for me.
