what happened to maples scheduled appearance that got rained out?

Actially, that bothered me, because he was scheduled to go with Blackburn, who went the next day. I know he charted pitches yesterday and some of the guys were ragging him for being shitty at it.

I'm guessing he threw on the side/simulated game (one of the benefits of having a large roster and tons of empty fields).

Daytona was delayed but the tarp is off the field and they're hoping to start shortly.

At this point, they may as well play games continuously during dry periods, and they'll meet everyone else at the end of the season.

McNeil went 4 5 0 0 0 2, ERA down to 1.69.....Wish AZPhil would give us some velo reports on some of our young pitching we just drafted.

Like McNeil a lot. He's firmly in my top 30. I'm really big on the "frame" of a player. McNeil is a good athlete with a very good "baseball body". He throws high 80s-low 90s with some sink, also throws a slider and change. Looks pretty wiry right now, but is a guy that I feel is going to be able to up the fastball a couple ticks (has hit 93 in the past, not sure how velo is as a pro so far). Hearing good things about his delivery too. He's going to need time, but he has the frame to add some lower body strength/mass, and get the fastball to the point he's working at 92-94, touching 95-96 and if he refines the breaking ball, I think he's a guy to keep a real close eye on.

Baez finished 0-6 with 3 K's between the two games.

Soler 1-3 thus far

Damn, playing once every 5 days will do that to a guy. Especially when a lot of the teams in the FSL aren't having games delayed/postponed everyday and are on a much better routine.

Sounds like a slighter built Ben Wells, minus a tick or two. Which would make me very happy.

Iowa Cubs RHP Rafael Dolis (placed on the I-Cubs 7-day DL in July with a sprained left knee) continued his rehab in Game #1 and threw 1.1 IP (24 pitches) of shutout ball (although he did allow a single and a double), and Peoria RHP Ben Wells (sprained elbow) opted to postpone TJS in the hope that his elbow would heal with rest, and it apparently has paid-off as the prized pitching prospect returned to action tonight after missing almost three months of action. The burly right-hander threw one inning of shutout ball, and while he did walk one and struggled with his command a bit (19 pitches - 11 strikes), he also struck out the side.

What the hell? So is he a ticking time bomb now? I'd have rather him have had it and gotten it over with. This was basicakky a lost developmental year for him anyway, now if his elobow flares back up, it'll be two.
