This could end up being an interesting evening if the rain keeps up.

@ESPNChiCubs We'll have to wait this out. The only mutual off day would give the D-backs 30-plus games in a row without a break. Not gonna happen.

@ESPNChiCubs Can't play doubleheader Sat. or Sun. because of city ordinance against weekend night games not assigned by national TV. So we wait.

lol @ the city ordinance. I understand Sunday, but FOX isn't doing primetime Saturday games anymore.

What are you trying to say?

There should be no reason they can't play a game Saturday night.

"Should" has nothing to do with it. Are you not familiar with the Cubs' issue with night games restrictions?

The restriction has nothing to do with TV, other than the fact that they'll make allowances for prime time games sometimes (like the two Saturday night games this year). The ordinance is about the shitty neighborhood not wanting a bunch of extra-drunk people walking around.

28% chance of precipitation. That's poor, but not as bad as rain after they've said 0%

Why would that be poor?

Giving an event a 28% probability and being wrong? Of course it's a poor prediction

Where is the "being wrong" part? The 28% probability is not necessarily wrong at all.

It was, in fact, wrong. The chance was 100%. Their models were inaccurate, due to data they couldn't have, I imagine. This was predictable this morning with perfect knowledge.

Knowing the weather 6 hours in advance to that level is just not unknowable in that way.

this is a mess, i say we tell the dbacks we will forfeit if we can say we lost 6-2 and tell the dodgers that bryan lahair hit two home runs

I don't know but they can feel free to throw the first pitch about 5:00pm Chicago time....I'll be home from work then!

Aramis Fan not understand city ordinances makes this thread an enjoyable read.

I understand the concept, I wasn't aware of the rationale, which is a little weak if you ask me. Totally blocking a possible makeup game for the risk of "extra drunk people hanging around the city" is kind of ridiculous.

So if someone hands you a die and says there is a ~17% probability that you roll a 4, and you proceed to do just that, is that person wrong or right? From a guy who regularly states the % likelihood of things happening, I expect a firmer understanding of probability.

In other news, this baseball game needs to happen.

I live in KY, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that from here everything about the relationship between the Cubs, the City and the residents and business owners of Wrigleyville looks completely ridiculous.
