Looks like Antawn Jamison is going to sign a 1 year minimum deal with the Lakers, I think that's a pretty good pick up for them. Considering how bad there bench was last year, he is a definite upgrade and will provide someone who can come in and score. He's a pretty solid guy to have play 25ish minutes a night.

The Los Angeles Lakers are making a renewed push to acquire All-Star center Dwight Howard and are meeting with Orlando Magic officials Tuesday, Yahoo! Sports reported.

Yahoo! Sports reports that the Lakers want a commitment from Howard that he will agree to a contract extension before they agree to a trade with the Magic.

The Lakers and Magic have been in talks over Howard for the past week or so, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard, but nothing is imminent.

Also, a source familiar with the Lakers' interest in Howard told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Dave McMenamin that the dialogue between Los Angeles and Orlando is "ongoing" but right now a trade would be "very tough to pull off."

Lakers making great moves so far this offseason, adding Howard to that team would be disgusting.

Agreed, if they get Howard on top of their moves already they are the clear #2 team in the West and big threat for the Thunder. I also think taking back J. Richardson in a Howard deal would be smart for them. He's not getting paid a ton (think like $6-8mm a year) but still enough that the Magic probably want his salary gone if they are blowing it up and he's another guy that would bolster their awful bench.

Apparently Howard is now willing to sign a long-term deal with the Lakers.

The NBA is becoming less exciting by the minute. 2 superteams and a meaningless regular season? Awesome.

Good thing they just redid the CBA!

Ahhhhh, you're just bitching because you keep pretending like the 90's never happened.

Or the 80's, for that matter.

Superteams are good for the league, imo. I'd rather there be 3-5 really good teams, with 3 or more allstars on those teams. Than every team just have one allstarish player and a bunch of bench guys/scrubs. Sure it gives no hope to teams like Milwaukee and other teams who won't attract guys in FA. I'm also in favor of cutting down the league by 3 teams or so.

MANILA, Philippines (AP) -- Former NBA star Dennis Rodman has finally met his estranged father after 42 years of separation, following an exhibition game in the Philippines.

Philander Rodman Jr., who has acknowledged fathering 29 children by 16 mothers, says he was happy and surprised that his son agreed to meet him late Wednesday. He tried to meet the basketball Hall of Famer during another game in Manila in 2006.

Philander, who has been living in the Philippines for nearly 50 years, said Thursday he wanted to explain to his son that he didn't abandon his family in the United States, but they only had time for greetings and handshakes.

The Vietnam War veteran now operates the Rodman's Rainbow Obamaburger restaurant in northern Angeles City.

Philander, lol. :hello:

Ahh for the glory days of the 1970's, when NBA Finals games were on tape delay.

Sulley knows they happened. He's complaining about now because there are two superteams and a meaningless regular season. He prefers one superteam and a meaningless regular season.

The NBA is a joke and the Lakers have been team stacking for years. Hey at least the Buss family wants to win.

Love em or hate em, you gotta respect how successful the Lakers have been. They've made the playoffs in 59 of their 64 seasons, they've finished over .500 in every season except 4 since 1967, they've been to the NBA Finals in almost exactly half of their seasons in the league (31 appearances in 64 years). You could make an argument that 6 of the top 10 players in NBA history played a significant part of their careers as a Laker (Magic, West, Kareem, Wilt, Kobe, Shaq). It's just incredible how much they have dominated the NBA throughout the history of the league.

They've done a great job of acquiring premier big men, generally at a bargain - Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, possibly Howard now. Gasol isn't in that tier but they got him on the cheap and he was a key to two championships.

Oh, so you're going to give up on it, right?

If the Lakers do indeed get Howard, I guess the next 5 years won't be too enjoyable with the Heat/OKC/Lakers probably winning the next 5 titles. Those teams are and will be stacked. I will watch from afar and resent the fact that Chicago made zero effort to get serious about Howard.

Yep. Even when Kobe and Wade get old and bad, I'm sure someone will force a trade to LA or Miami and keep the ball rolling. This sucks.

There was nothing to get serious about; he doesn't want to play here.
