Anyone know anything about Orlando Johnson? Seems like a decent pick from what I've quickly read, and the Pacers only gave up cash to get him.

I don't know a whole lot about him, but seems like a really good pick. He has a pretty good NBA build already, and also really long with a 6-11 wingspan. Was a SR, and he improved his shooting every year. Looks to be a pretty good scorer and a damn good rebounder at the SG spot (over 6 per game last 2 years).

I like his game.

Sounds pretty good. Thanks.

I'm trying to talk myself into liking the Plumlee pick, but it's tough.

Well, with any pick in the 2nd round, all you can really hope for is the guy to makes the roster, so I think Orlando Johnson is great value in the 2nd round. I don't think there is any bias on Orlando coming from me even though I've probably seen 10-20 games of his.

I could never talk myself into liking Plumlee in the first, but if he cracks the rotation, you can't really complain picking him in the 20s.

 at ESPN First Take. Blatant racism at its finest.

Go on..

Skip Bayliss basically just said to never draft a white, American born big man. They always flop. Then said that Andre Drummond showed him more than Meyers Leonard, which Chad Ford said was insane. Then later Jamelle Hill brought up Kevin Love. I used to think Bayliss was an idiot. Now I think he's a racist.

Don't think it's racism as much as his usual trying to get ratings idiocy shtick (as Snayke said).

It's just a dumb point to attempt to make when Kevin Love is an all-star in the league. But hey, if you get annoyed by Bayless, just watch in that Mark Cuban video and laugh.

Oh I have, yeah you're right he just a fool. And to the other guys and gals credit they all avoided it.

Yes, I'm sure a white guy hates white guys.

Did you see the piece? He said never ever pick a white, American. I guess that was his way of loving white basketball players.

Skip is just doing his thing to get ratings
Just say Leonard is really raw, didn't win a lot in college, and could flop. Don't say it's because he's a white guy from America.

Oh I don't disagree, but if the ratings for his show have indeed been falling off, then it makes sense that he's going to be even more obnoxious.

Didn't know how much interest a separate offseason thread would get. If the discussion goes well, I can always split up the thread.

But looks like Kevin Garnett is going to re-sign with the Celtics. I believe free agency starts at midnight tonight.

This Dwight story has reached a new level of ridiculousness. This is so much worse than the Brett Favre fiasco.

Just kick him out of the league.

Blazers have offered Roy Hibbert a max contract (4 years, $58 million) and it doesn't sound like the Pacers are willing to pay Roy the max and are talking to Asik from the Bulls. Blech.

Didn't Portland just draft Leonard 11th?

Every person I've heard thinks the Pacers will match, although it isn't guaranteed. I can't see Hibbert being overpaid by enough in that scenario to be worth losing an asset for nothing. It's not like the Pacers are likely to be able to lure another quality player for a fair money deal.

Mike Wells tweeted that the Pacers are already looking at other options at center including Asik so...I'm not so sure.

Looks like Asik is off the table for Indiana.

From David Aldridge:

The Pacers would still be able to match any offer for Hibbert when the July moratorium expires, but teams generally work out deals for players who express a specific desire to be elsewhere once they become free agents.

The Pacers are still likely to match the offer, because Hibbert has become one of the league's top centers and his skills as a passing big man are a rare commodity in the NBA these days. But a source indicated Sunday that the organization would have to take a look at the offer before making a definitive commitment.

The team's owner, Herb Simon, has OK'd a decision to go either way depending on what the team's new basketball operations group, led by team president Donnie Walsh and general manager Kevin Pritchard, ultimately recommend.

The Pacers have to re-sign Hibbert. All their progress is for naught if they don't. He can't be replaced (at least not by Indiana) and the "max" contract is close to his actual value (not all "max" contracts are equal). I believe the average starting center in the NBA, excluding rookie contracts, earns about $12 million a year, so paying Hibbert $14ish million a year is not unreasonable.

Someone should show Hibbert a slideshow of what a graveyard the center position is in Portland. His knee will explode by December.

Has there been any chatter on where Ilyasova is going to wind up?

Joe Johnson has been traded to the Nets for Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson, Jordan Williams, and a lottery protected 2013 1st round pick. Deal is contingent on Deron Williams staying with the Nets.
