Greetings one and all from beautiful Hardin, MT !!!

On this day in 1876.........

The entire National League had the day off.... it was Sunday.

The CUBS (known then as the White Stockings) were in Chicago, still basking in the glow of thier 16-2 drubbing of the New York Mutuals the previous day, and were leading the National League by 2 games.

In other action it was......

The Indians 268 Custer 136 in Montana

Meanwhile, back to the present day...... the CUBS currently have a 4 game losing streak and the only thing they lead by 2 games is the Fecal League !!!

I assume we are getting the God-awful right handed hitting lineup tonight with Baker, Mather and Reed getting another of too many starts.

Reed hasn't been bad at all. Plus, he's 13-25 lifetime against Santana. Best of any player with at least 15 at bats against him.

Am I the only one who always thinks "Kerry" when I see game threads with Wood as the starter? It's like a reflex or something

I do it here, and at ESPN's of the world too. It's incredibly saddening.

Very nice outing thus far for Wood: 1 hit 1 BB 2 K for through 4 innings.

Quite economical work as well. 47 pitches (35/12 strikes/balls).

You know, at this pace Ronny Cedeno will have a 10 year career and therefore be eligible to be on the HOF ballot.

I know this isn't a popular opinion (surprise, surprise coming from me), but 21 will always be Sammy's number, and should have been retired long ago.

i think your opinion that that wouldn't be a popular opinion here is far more unpopular than the opinion itself, which is probably pretty popular (at least here)

WTF? 2 three base errors in one inning?

Can't say I've ever seen back-to-back 3 base errors.

They weren't back-to-back. Johnson K'd in between them.
