(19-36) Chicago Cubs @ (24-31) Milwaukee Brewers

Paul Maholm

4-4, 4.82 ERA

Career vs. Brewers: 3-9, with a 4.74 ERA in 20 starts. 125.1 IP, 86 K and 46 BB.

Zack Greinke

6-2, 3.46 ERA

Career vs. Cubs: 2-2, with a 5.79 ERA in four starts. 23.1 IP, 31 K and 8 BB.

The Cubs look to win the series after dominating the Brewers in game one, 10-0. Paul Maholm is looking for his first win since May 9th. Since then, his ERA has risen from 4.09 to 4.82. If you recall Maholm's first start as a Cub, it was against the Brewers and he struggled, to say the least. On the opposite side of things, Zack Greinke goes for the Brewers. The Cubs roughed up the former Cy Young winner, as he allowed 8 ER in 3-2/3 IP.

Can you say winning streak?!?

But seriously, let's just beat the Brewers/Cardinals/Reds the rest of the way and I'll be happy. I'm sure it was fun to be at the game last night and stare at the stunned Brewers fans.

Most of them were gone by the 7th inning.

That was a cool 53 mph pitch by Greinke.

You don't see a 42 MPH difference in pitch speeds on back to back pitches very often.

Wow. Possible one page game thread? Has that ever happened before?

More Greinke strikeouts than posts?

No way it catches up to today's minor league thread.

I guess Campana's not exactly loving tonight, by the looks of the boxscore.

7 K's in two games. I'm guessing he gets a day off tomorrow.

I would say "Typical Cubs. Win 10-0 one day and lose 8-0 the next" but scoring 10 runs in a game is anything but typical for the Cubs.

This has to be one of the worst game threads in the history of this site.

Still a chance to win the series tomorrow.

i can guarantee you that there were threads late last year (and certainly late 2006) that probably had like 4 posts in them.

edit: viewforum.php?f=26&start=75

two threads with 5 posts, two threads with 7, one with 9 on that page.

viewforum.php?f=26&start=50

a 9 and an 8 on that one. (and there was a cubs game on 9/24 that nobody even made a thread for, although some 9/24 game-related posts were made in the 9/23 thread)

viewforum.php?f=26&start=250

4, 5 and two 7 post threads. this thread had two posts before the game, ONE during it, then me commenting that it was a new low by pointing out that one post was made during the game, and UMFan commenting on my post.

so yeah, it can get a lot worse. and i'm sure it will get a lot worse in september, unless jackson and rizzo are up and playing every day, because people will care about their at bats.

I think if we started Peoria Chiefs game threads at this moment, they might get more posts.

I'd rather watch the Chiefs honestly.
