Holy crap at McNutt's FIP, he must be getting pretty lucky this year if his ERA is that low. With the amount of BB he has his BABIP must be pretty low. Anybody have that?

Fangraphs has him at a .222 babip this year which is significantly down from his crazy .366 last year.

He's had a decent amount of unearned runs cross the plate.

hr brett jackson.

Again off a lefty. What. The. [expletive].

The Iowa big 3 prospects' stats this years vs. LHPs are just stupid.

Vitters- .292/.346/.646/.992

Rizzo- .327/.373/.636/1.009 (actually better vs. RHP)

Jackson- .357/.435/.821/1.256

I'd like to hear a report of how his velo is holding up. I tend to look at him as a bullpen guy, but if he can get his arm strength built up and stay healthy, it's worth giving him a long look. I don't like the lack of K's but this has to be his most economical outing of the year easily.

8-pitch at bat for jackson, ended with a fly out. this after a 7-pitch walk in his previous at bat. i'd really like the cubs' offense to resemble those offenses that the yankees and red sox had for many years - part of the reason that their games against each other would take 3.5 hours. both teams were loaded with patient hitters who had lots of deep at bats, which meant that starting pitchers labored and the bullpen would often be deployed by the 6th or 7th inning. even when pedro was pitching gems against the yankees, he'd still throw 120 pitches in a 2-hit shutout.

I have never been overly high on McNutt. Way too many question marks and not enough results. I don't ever see him being durable / enough of an innings eater to be even a back end of the rotation guy.
