@BleacherNation: #Cubs: Andrew Cashner is Angry and Other Bullets http://t.co/LlpzdTbL

Havnt seen this yet, but it's somewhat moronic of a take on the situation in his part. First off, the reason for the trade was that Rizzo was the type of top shel prospect that the Cubs do desperately needed, and Cashner was what the Padres wanted in return, and it doesn't go any deeper than that

Secondly, it was Theo's first offseason, pretty much everyone was a Hendry Guy at the time, aside from a handfull of low risk scrap keepers. I can assure him that there were a lot of guys that Theo would have preferred to give up instead, probably including Cashner's felllow "Hendry Guy," Jeff Samardzjia, and while at the time a lot of us would have jumped for joy had we traded Shark for a top 50 prospect, in hindsight, I don't think there are too many complaints that we kept Shark.

This is the type of statement that maybe I'd expect from an upset fan, but from a professional player, one would expect him to know how it works. If you want a top prospect like Rizzo, he's going to cost something, and it's not like the Cubs were loaded with attractive trade chips.

It looks to me that he just misinterpreted someone's question about his arm. It happens.

Unless I'm missing something, but I don't really care to go into much depth on it.

Ryan Theriot was a douche to a city that adored him completely irrationally.

Of course, that's not surprising, because he is a douche.

disgruntled? He said he was traded because he was a Hendry guy and not a theo guy, how does that make him disgruntled.

It was the part where he got mad and walked away in a huff when asked how the shoulder was that made the media decide to paint it that way.

Additionally:

Hawkins: racism related

Bradley: racism related

Jacque Jones: felt unfairly treated, might have been racism mixed in. Flames were fanned by close friend Tori Hunter.

Baker: ran out of top shelf arms to wreck

Silva: vocally upset that he lost his job to a more talented player(Cashner) and was strung along despite the fact that they know he would lose out.

I think DeRosa, Prior, and Pierre each might have griped a bit after their respective stays.

I don't think DeRosa was upset at all. At least, I don't remember anything remotely suggesting as much.

In any case, it was a silly thing for him to say, even if it was the media just stretching I to be more than it was. Especially coming from a guy who was still essentially a prospect himself.

I don't recall DeRosa, Prior or Pierre griping at all. Mark Grace is the one that irritated me:

"I'm not good enough to play for the Cubs but I'm good enough to play for the WS champions!"

Didn't Baker imply racism a few times too? I remember the comment about someone dropping a deuce in his dugout spot and racism being brought up as a reason or something like that.

There were definitely reports of Prior being sour on Hendry/Baker and the feeling was supposedly mutual. I can't remember if there were any public comments, though.

In my Googling for that, I came across this...

The perfect item for any Cubs fan!

Is that Dusty not taking Prior out of a game?

It's Dusty asking Prior to stay in for a few more hitters.

...and Mark pointing out that the arm might be a little sore.

i remember an odd interview with prior on the mac, jurko and harry show back in '03 or '04 where he expressed dismay about how the cubs marketed him and also the team, but he didn't want to go into detail about specifics. thought it was kinda weird for him to say that since outside of going to a random sports authority in schaumburg to sign baseballs for kids and parents, i never thought he was over or under marketed by the team.

Prior suffered from being smarter (academically speaking)than nearly everyone he dealt with. I'd be incredibly frustrated with fishing metaphors and Hendry idiocy if I was him too.

Cashner should be happy he got dealt to SD. Home games at Petco should be a dream for any pitcher.

no doubt. And he might very well be. The OP is mis-titled IMO
