12 game losing streaks:

1970

13 game losing streaks:

I know we absolutely suck right now but we do have the Pirates for 3 this weekend. I would think that, even as bad as this team has been, we can can win at least 1 game against the Pirates in 3 games and end the current 9 game streak.

I don't like our chances with the Bucs and Pads coming up. I could see us going 2-4 but 0-6 is a tall order. However if we can manage it, with a 3 game set @ San Fran, this streak could be legendary.

Yeah, and we probably win a series until we face the Astros.

14 game losing streaks:

That was the worst expletiving thing ever. At least this season we had that brief moment where the team was kind of playing well and it was like "Hey, if we beat the Cardinals today we're only four out and .500 is within sight!"

1997 was like going on a date with a woman who tells you in the first minute that you have no chance of a second date or second base.

Or first base.

Can't wait for the Twins series.

I'll be there for the first two games. Hope to see history, and any starting pitcher other than Maholm, also.

I went to a game vs. the Twins in '09. You wouldn't think it, but they were some of the most obnoxious visiting fans I've ever been surrounded by. One of the only Cubs games in which the away fans drowned out the Cubs fans. I remember it was shortly after Milton Bradley tossed a ball into the stands thinkin there were 3 out, and some doofus in the stand was harping on it the entire game.

Oh, I completely agree. I was actually at that exact same game in '09, the first time I had been around Twins fans. I was surrounded by a group of their fans and they were the definition of meatball. Everyone's favorite player was Nick Punto, they seemed to know zero about the game, and every group of fans had "Circle Me Bert" signs. Definitely left with a poor impression of Twins fans.

The Twins' and the Mets' were the two most obnoxious opposin fans I've ever experienced at Wrigley

Wasn't '97 the year we started 0-14?

Wasn't at the Twins at Cubs series but people saying Twins fans were bad surprises me. If I was to make a list of bad fans they probably would be low on my list.

Anytime I go to a game in KC and wear my Cubs stuff they always yell at me about "How did that Mauer Prior thing turn out?" I guess they like how that one turned out a lot.

Assssssstro fans are the worst.....

Also, as bad as the cubs are, they have not lost 100 games in a year in a long long time.

That might change this year.

That 97 Cubs team was never above .500 ever during the season.

Zambrano was signed that year as a amateur free agent.

Things I remember about that season, besides 0-14:

The first game we won was part of a day where we continued a suspended game, so we were 1-1 on the day and still didn't have a winning day.

I think we got to 7-21 and I remember thinking "see, we can go 7-7, if only that losing streak hadn't put us so far behind, this could be a .500 team."

I was a junior in college during the 0-14 debacle. It was fairly depressing checking the standings during that time period. I"m not really all that rocked by the Cubs current suckage. I still have faith in Theo's plan. Blind faith perhaps, but I'm not freaking out about it. I just wish this team was good enough to at least fake being in contention for a while.

The weird thing to me is that this team is nowhere near as painful to watch as such great teams like 2002 and 2006. Cripes, 2006 felt like a forced death march compared to this season.

Nothing will ever approach 2006. Speed doesn't slump, dude.
