I don't understand why you keep running and sacrificing in a game where you keep getting so many runners on base. Why give them more/better chances to make outs?

Old school baseball man.

You guys are just playing an elaborate prank on me right? Sveum didnt just have Castro put down a sacrifice bunt?

This is getting a bit silly

i just honestly do not understand how you can't think far enough ahead to realize what's going to happen. the desired outcome is that you have 2nd and 3rd one out, they obviously walk your 1.150 ops hitter to get to your #5 hitter who happens to have an ops below .600. there's also the very real possibility of a bunt into a double play or a pop out, since the guy who's bunting almost never does that in game situations any more.

what the [expletive] sveum?

I was definitely on guard when he started his bunt tournament....but I figured that was just an icebreaker/bone thrown to the media to show a focus on fundamentals

Sveum is clearly just a placeholder until the Cubs get good. He's not entirely different from the last five schlubs we've run out there at manager, other than his defensive strategies.

Or maybe the upper management likes his sac bunting?

Don't say sad things like that.

According to baseball-reference, Starlin Castro hasn't had a sacrafice bunt since September 4, 2010. I don't know about failed attempts, but I'd guess there hasn't been many of those either.

He had 0 last year and 0 up to this point this year.

It's so awesome how quickly I went from meh about the Cubs to bitching about the manager. It feels good to care again..this team is somewhat enjoyable.

The Cubs ARE an inning plus a win tomorrow away from being 4 out, so there is that.

After the idiotic decision to have Stewart bunt in the same situation the other night, what is a fan to think? :-k

Now he is doing it with Mather with slow-ass Geo Soto on 2nd base. Just because the Cardinals screwed up doesn't make the decision any better.
