Who was the 1 for Minnesota? Perkins?

It doesn't show anyone at 97. But Lester Oliveros hit 96.6 once, so I guess they rounded up.

As a team, the Twins threw 112 pitches at 95 mph or more. While Aroldis Chapman threw 207 pitches at or above 101.

Alex Rodriguez is once again an active member of the New York Yankees, with 3 years and $61m left on his contract.

In real time I thought maybe Gordon should have gone and was a little surprised he didn't, but when you look at the replay there's no way he should have. He's approaching the base as Crawford's receiving the ball. Crawford throwing the ball ~150 feet v. Gordon running 90 feet is a contest he will only win if Crawford throws it away. It would've been exciting, but even with Silver's math there's no way there was a 15% chance of him scoring.

I think Gordon didn't do himself any favors by looking for the ball halfway to third base, but even if he put his head down and ran through he'd probably only marginally be past third by the time Crawford received it. Still they teach you in friggin' little league if you're trying to beat out a throw to an extra base, don't look for the ball because it will slow you down, just power forward and trust your base coach.

It just blows my mind how he wasn't halfway to third by the time the ball was actually thrown from the wall. I figured Gordon was a little faster than that.

this. my jaw hit the floor when he's rounding second and kept glancing at what was going on in the outfield.

Yup. Just bad baserunning on Gordon's part. I don't necessarily agree that he should have gone/been sent with how badly he actually ran the bases, but if he had run like he should have even being just past 3B would have made it real interesting.

Ugh, seriously, Gordon should feel like a jackass:

Meh. The Royals had no chance against Bumgarner. It was practically a miracle Gordon got the single in the first place, much less ending up on 3B. Yeah, he had basically no shot and rightly wasn't sent based on how shittily he ran, but if he had been hauling ass and looking to the coach he should have been well around 3B as opposed to where he is vs. the ball in that photo.
