Finding each NL team's arch-nemesis player: http://www.baseballnation.com/2013/4/26/4271184/national-league-team-killers-arch-nemeses

The player who most terrorized another team in his career? Jim Thome vs. the Cardinals. In 131 PA, he put up a .430/.565/1.010 (for an OPS of 1.575) against them with 18 HRs and a 223 tOPS+.

Oh, and the Cubs' nemesis? Mark McGwire.

Feels like Carlos Lee should be higher on that list.

I figured it was Pujols with this line against the Cubs:

.304 .406 .626 1.032 and 56 HR in 771 PA

Though Pujols has basically been the entire NL Central's nemesis with similar numbers for each team.

Hell, after checking McGwire's numbers I'd still pick Pujols. Pujols put those numbers up over 178 games against the Cubs; McGwire only played in 42 with 172 PA. Insane as McGwire's numbers were, Pujols has "felt" more like a nemesis to me because he was around for so much longer.

Pujols also played against the Cubs in an era in which the Cubs emerged as a contender and should have done more. McGwire's time coincided with a time when the Cubs had a brief glimpse of success but were largely an also ran.

Yeah, definitely. Outside of the HR chase I really didn't see McGwire as more than just an annoyance who wasn't around very long, whereas Pujols was an active detriment to this team doing better when they actually had several chances to really succeed while he was on the Cardinals.

Where's jeff baluster on the list?

9th

Although if they had a statistic for players that killed another team and then joined said team and sucked, he'd be number 1.

anyone else pissed at how fast Chris Carpenter is rehabbing? Ridiculous

He's already rehabbing in double A. This was a guy that was supposed to miss the whole year and probably be done with his career, and now he'll undoubtedly be pitching game 1 of the World Series.

Maybe if he wins, he'll go out and celebrate and Hancock himself?

Over a thousand Expos fans traveled to a Toronto game today to try to gain awareness for bringing the Expos back to Montreal.

I don't see it happening ever, but kind of cool that they still care.

4 Astros pitchers combined to strike out 15 Mariners and walk 6. Collectively the gave up 1 hit. No errors were committed in the game.

They lost 4-2

lol, saw that. They are really a special bunch. Bedard pitched like 6 or 7 1/3, gave up 1 hit, k'd 10 but still took the loss because he walked 5 and gave up 3 runs.

He actually had a no hitter going. Bedard pulled himself out of his own no hitter because he had thrown 106 pitches and he said it wasn't worth risking another injury. Apparently he has a self-imposed 110 pitch limit. Said he's had 3 shoulder surgeries already and being able to play for another couple of years was more important to him than a no-hitter. Can't say I blame him.
