I always thought he was a really fat dude, but he looks in really good shape this year.

I was looking at their B-R pages after you posted that, OMC, and noticed how similar their age 29 seasons were.

So, if you had to chose one for a "whatifsports" team, which would you pick? Miggy's '12 or Hank's '63?

Hank had a 9.5 WAR that year and Miggy at 7.3

Also, how did Dick Groat get more votes for MVP that year than Hank?

http://www.baseball-reference.com/awards/awards_1963.shtml#NLmvp

My guess is that he was white.

I'm not sure that argument has much validity. 9 of the previous 13 NL MVP's had been black.

Also, the ROY award went to black players 9 of the previous 13 NL seasons.

Cardinals won 93 games. Braves won 84.

Miguel Cabrera became the first player in history to go 4-for-4 with 3 HRs, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored in defeat. There have been 7 other players with 3 HRs in defeat:

Johnny Mize (4 times); Babe Roth, Ernie Banks, Dave Kingman, Glenn Davis, Joe Carter, and Sammy Sosa each doing it twice. Seems to be a lot of ex-Cubs on that list. :-k

daniel bard was one of the top young setup men in baseball a couple of years ago. then they tried to make him a starter and he completely fell apart. more walks than innings pitched this year in the minors and they've just him down for a while, apparently just to clear his head.

227 ERA+ in 2010, average fastball velo was 98. Damn.

Maybe Theo told Sanchez something in our sales pitch to him (maybe a repertoire change) that would make him better or something, lol.

wonder what is going on with austin kearns. he was put on the bereavement list in early may and then was moved to the restricted list. normally you don't miss 2-3 weeks with bereavement.

Seattle optioning Jesus Montero back down to AAA.

Montero and Smoak are just crushing disappointments.

Gotta wonder about Seattle's player development with the struggles of Ackley and Smoak.

I had high hopes for Montero this season in my fantasy league. Such a blunder of a decision to stick with him. He performed admirably for a young catcher in a tough hitters park last year, I figured some development and the fences moving in would prime him for a breakout.

Nope, he kinda sucks.
