Well you don't see this everyday.

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus was scratched from Thursday's Cactus League game against the Cleveland Indians due to muscle soreness in his left arm caused by a new tattoo.

With Jurickson Profar waiting in the wings, I wouldn't miss too much time were I Elvis.

He airmailed it the right way. RT @craigcalcaterra: Martin Prado, playing left, airmails a throw home. But it was gritty.

I hope the D'Backs/Towers snark keeps going all season

Just when you thought ESPN was the only network out there trotting out an endless array of debate shows, this trailer for a new MLB Network show popped up during the World Baseball Classic... and I've lost all faith in humanity.

The new show is called MLB Now, will debut on Opening Day of the MLB season, April 1st, and will feature Brian Kenny and Harold Reynolds arguing "new school" vs "old school" in regards to various topics throughout the league.

Just another show on MLBN that I won't watch. I had such high hopes for that MLBN and that it would be the anti ESPN/BBTN but instead they have just copied their style and have molded all of their shows after them. I don't watch anything on MLBN except for when they broadcast games and the draft.

I don't see how/why this is surprising. As much as Awful Announcing and most on this board (inc. me) hate these opinion/debate shows, they're a major driver of viewers on news and information networks (look at what's happened with Cable news, for example).

FirstTake took a huge dive, but was able to use Tebow to bring itself back. It's the kind of programming many love, and others love to hate.

That said, I will not be tuning-in to "MLB Now." It's just another data point in the long list of disappointing MLB Network shows.

Clubhouse Confidential is good and I'm not sure why watching Kenny embarrassing Reynolds wouldn't be entertaining.

At least someone on mainstream TV is talking about advanced stats.

Yes, but advanced stats are going to be talked about in a way that perpetuates every negative stereotype about negative stats. It's going to get snarky, and Kenny and Reynolds will just dig harder into their positions (as that's the point of the show). No one will be drawn to accepting advanced stats, and few who already know about them will learn anything new.

A better approach would be to use advanced stats in the context most are used to seeing traditional stats (e.g., a BBTN format).

Brewers general manager Doug Melvin got a scare Wednesday night when he was stung by a small scorpion in his condominium and spent three hours in a local hospital.

Melvin just told me that he reached down to pick up what he thought was a harmless bug with a Kleenex but it turned out to be an Arizona bark scorpion. Melvin was stung on the middle finger of his left hand and when he started experiencing numbness going up his arm, he Googled scorpion stings and decided he better go to a hospital.

Ronny Cedeno is going to be the starting SS in the ASG for the NL, isn't he.

It sounds like they're going to give the starting job to Kozma.

Who will be lucky to OPS .600. Good shot at being the worst hitter in MLB.
