So, this is really weird. Jackson's splits this year:

v. RHP: .209/.308/.284/.592, 20 K in 76 PA

v. LHP: .407/.515/.889/1.404, 2 HR, 9 K in 32 PA

Any idea why Jackson has been in RF lately with Sappelt in CF? Is it because Sappelt is more likely to be called up sooner to play/platoon in CF?

Last night was the only instance in the last 10 games of Sappelt in CF with Jackson in RF. Every other game Jackson has played CF.

So he takes the average lefthanded hitter and turns him into Ted Williams at his best (in a limited sample size this year).

Brett, not Jay.

Smokies rolling over the Biscuits 9-2 so far. Struck done after 5.1 - not the greatest line (5.1, 5 h (1 solo homer), 4bb, 2 r (1 unearned), 3 K's. Ha 3-3 so far and Watkins (with a triple)/Bour (with a double)/Mota (with a HR) 2-3 so far.

Daytona lost 6-4. Guess Weismann was sent down to A+. Jokisch with a decent start ( 6ip, 6 h (2 solo homers), 2 bb, 7 K's, 3 R's). Andreoli and Rohan each went 2/4 with 2 R's and a 2B. Torreyes was a late inning sub, with Silva starting at 2nd.

Brett called out an interesting tidbit from Levine's chat today, that the Cubs see Cardenas as a potential starter at 2B, but he needs to work on his defense. I like the sound of Cardenas as a Todd Walker type, and getting him 2B reps does explain DeWitt's inexplicable presence on the roster.

Pugliese is the guy with the knuckechange right? I remember him getting ahead of most draftees last year, but thy memory is cloudy. I do remember him being more interesting than not amongst the arms taken last year.

No K's for Scott...Meh...More curious about pretty much everything else.

I think Garrert Schlect should be talked about more. He's got interesting upside, and is amongst the most patient hitters in the system since he got in.

Candelario had a nice game, and Rosario the super sleeper catcher threw out a runner. Supposedly they're pretty high on Rosario from what I choose to infer.

Pugliese has a knuckle-change? I recall reading that he toyed around with it, but I thought he went back to fast/slider/more basic change.

Good to see Brett Jackson having a few good games.

What do you guys think about Rizzo against left handed pitching so far? He just crushes righties so far this season hitting above .400 with a 1.300 OPS but against lefties he's only hitting .207 with a .233 OBP and .544 OPS. Obviously this is a small sample size and I'm not sure what he did last season at AAA but are you guys concerned with this? Was Rizzo vs lefties a concern last season as well?

He's doing notably worse against lefties this year, but his historical splits show he's not nearly as bad off as this year would indicate.

Agree on Schlect. It will be interesting to see if he shows some more power this year.
