No matter what happens in the fifth, I wouldn't mind that being it for Samardzija. Nine-run games are made for mop-up relievers and saving the starter's arm.

Rodrigo Lopez, your table is ready.

Could be a good time to give DeJesus or Soriano the rest of the of the afternoon of and see what LaHair looks like out there.

let's not and say we did.

Serious question for Kyle and TT: At what point during the season and what kind of numbers need to be put up, for either of you to acknowledge Stewart and LaHair as decent players?

Wasn't Samardzija touching 96 or 97 last time? I don't think he's had that today.

I've seen one 96, no 97s.

Is this making fun of Kaplan thing a gambit? I hope it's not. First Bruce, now Wittenmyer.

‏ @GDubCub RT @thekapman: LaHair drills grand slam. The same Bryan LaHair that Quade wouldn't play.//From the same KapMan who wanted Prince #ridiculous

It's a sliding scale that depends on how good he is. I want to see good peripherals: BB rates high, K rates manageable, etc.

Also, I really wish we hadn't sent Samardzija out for the ninth in his last game. He's gassed early today.

To what end? I'm glad LaHair is off to a good start, but even with a full season of strong offensive numbers, I can't be sold on him as a fixture at 1B. After that you're looking at more than a season and LaHair is about to turn 32 and on the decline. That's my biggest problem, is that there isn't much payoff to gambling(as much as you can call it a gamble with no other options) on LaHair.

Probably should have started the pen before the 5th hit of the inning.
