Who knows maybe he is going the Matt Painter route and sleeping with a cheerleader. :P

The Painter rumor is, I assume, the reason for the last tweet. But seriously, he's either tweeting a chick or saying some really creepy things to a recruit. It's starting to spread on twitter.

Well, he has been doing pretty well on the recruiting front so his creepy texts must be working. :P

Well at least we know he's been thinking about them a lot. A whole lot.

Trey Lyles opens up recruitment. Had verballed to IU. Gave the old, "IU is still my leader" response. Wants to compare IU to other schools.

This should be interesting.

Probably creeped out by that tweet.

Sounds like James Blackmon is opening up again too. Lyles is going to Kentucky is my guess. That's what happened when Derek Willis backed out on Purdue last year. Of course, he's spiraled down the rankings since then. I don't think that's going to happen to Lyles. Actually, Lyles plays the same position as Willis so it would be extra sweet if he went to Kentucky.

Oh, and if you take Lyles off the scholarship list, IU is no longer over the scholarship limit in 2014. :good:

There is speculation that Lyles/Blackmon are a package deal. Blackmon's dad played for UK. I'm going to go ahead and say that I expect to not see either kid in an Indiana uniform.

I wouldn't either. I expect Lyles to end up at UK; not sure about Blackmon (he's a very good player, but coming off an ACL injury I'm not sure he's good enough for UK to take). It's obviously bad news as Lyles is one of the best two players Crean had recruited to IU. I think I posted here when Lyles verballed that it was hard for me to get too excited about his commitment considering his age -- though my excitement did grow. I would think this may be a lesson to Crean about taking such early verbals; then again, I'm not sure IU has been harmed in any way (they don't have Lyles now, no different than if he hadn't verballed).

Additionally, while I hate to beat a dead horse, it also should be a lesson, though I doubt it will be, about the over-signing issue, especially for players years away from matriculating. So much can happen, for apparently no reason, when dealing with teenagers and college sports.

Yes, because the scholarship list that includes Cody Zeller as a senior has a lot of relevance.

You're forgetting the guy that Crean has been thinking of. A lot.

THE ZELLER FAMILY IS COMMITTED TO EDUCATION BECAUSE LUKE DIDN'T LEAVE AFTER 1 YEAR

To be fair, Cody's going to graduate in 3 years. I'd expect him to stay in school until he does graduate.

Who the hell can't get into IU academically? :D

edit: oh, and isn't he the one that coined 'the movement'?

From another board, by a poster who said one week ago that Patterson would not make it:

Ron Patterson was eligible coming out of high school (he will make it through the Clearinghouse). He did not "fail" any of his summer classes. You can't be ineligible based only on summer school grades -- he could have been on probation with full eligibility this semester with the chance to bring his grades up his fall (not at all impossible). He could have shown up in Bloomington this week with just as much eligibility as Yogi, Peter, Hanner, and Jeremy. He was not given the chance to do so by the IU coaching staff.

Would he have been given that chance if we weren't oversigned? Would that chance have been offered to other freshmen if they'd been in the same situation, as opposed to the one seen by most as "most expendable"? Those are the questions to ask when you want to consider if a kid has been forced out of the program (or "Creaned" as some would put it).

So he really was 'Creaned'. Between this, the 'tweet', and Lyles opening up it's been a rough couple weeks for Tommy.

At this point, I'm ready to concede that this was a Creaning. But hey, it was either this or have Austin Etherington have an unfortunate "accident" involving a lead footed campus bus driver. :-"

Who's playing guard this year? Is Creek actually going to be back? Hulls, Oladipo, Abell, Ferrell and what?

No Jordy Hulls was going to pay for half the team's scholarships.
