awesome pitcher's duel between cliff lee and matt cain:

lee: 9 ip, 5 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 7 k, 89 pitches/71 strikes (!!!)

cain: 9 ip, 2 h, 0 r, 1 bb, 4 k, 91 pitches/64 strikes

cain was removed for a pinch hitter in the 9th inning (he was due to lead off the inning). phillies were retired by the giants' reliever in the top of the 10th; lee has come back out for the bottom of the 10th.

Lee just finished the 10th inning. I'm guessing he's done because the pitcher's spot is up third this inning. He's only thrown 102 pitches so he could go another inning, though.

Last pitcher to go 10 innings was Aaron Harang in 2007.

Cliff Lee really wishes you said someone else.

would've been interesting if the first two batters had made outs, but carlos ruiz hit a leadoff double, so obviously lee had to be PH for.

btw, last pitcher to pitch more than 10 innings in a game was dave stewart in 1990.

another fun fact from tonight, bartolo colon threw 39 strikes in a row between the 5th and 8th innings of the oakland-seattle game.

I don't think wasting an out to bunt the runner to 3rd was a great idea with Romo and Thome's respective K rates up next.

it's freddy galvis... the guy is pretty much a wasted out. his career minor league ops was .613.

I remember Mark Mulder going 10 for the Cardinals... oh wait that's not any better.

Oh wow kinda sad I missed another "Cliff Lee is amazing" performance. I'll have to wait 5 more days, amirite? Anyway, in his and Halladay's case I'm pretty pissed Philly can't hit a lick. Even Soriano might sound appealing to them...maybe? Hopefully?

our rivals who we play 6 times a year, are the other league and aren't good.

plus humber was a third overall pick, it's not like he didn't have any sort of successful pedigree.

You can't stop the meatball from rolling, and this place is packed with them lately.

If the batter runs instead of argues he may have beaten the throw which would have been an interesting way to have a perfect game ended.

More impressive than Buehrle's, so at least there's that.

And Hawk didn't call it, which is a big plus.

Excellent point. Subtracting the epic douchedom of Hawk, Buehrle (with Ozzie lurking) made this much more fun to watch.
