Barry Larkin and Roberto Alomar played their entire MLB careers, retired, and were elected to the HOF during the span of Jamie Moyer's career.

Also, he was the oldest pitcher in the American League... eight years ago.

Have any big league players played until the age of 50, not counting guys like Minnie Minoso and Satchell Paige who popped up here and there for PR purposes for an inning or 2 here and there?

Jack Quinn, although just barely. His final game was 6 days after his 50th birthday.

MLB posted earlier today that Jamie Moyer has faced 8.9% of all Major League batters. Ever.

I find that to be the most remarkable stat.

That's incredible. Did they say who the next closest was, or what percentage it was?

Jamie Moyer has pitched to 8.9 percent of all players to ever make an MLB plate appearance. (Roughly 1,400 of 16,000.)
Yes, there must be a PA limit to get that number.

Well he's been playing Major League Baseball for about 20% of it's existence and has always been a starter, so it's not too outrageous at face value.

Hahahahaha not really

If you go back to the first year of the National League (1876), that's 136 years ago.

Jamie Moyer has pitched in the majors for 25 years.

25/136 = 18.4%

You had a week and that was the best you could do?

I liked it. It's even funnier when I imagine it as a child's reaction to something you're actually saying out loud.

Moyer debuted before I was born. And I'm out of college. : )

Simply amazing considering all of the wear and tear pitching in the Major Leagues does to your arm. I bet Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan still have aches in their shoulders.
