  1. Pretty much every ball club has an ESPN affiliate for post game talk. They call it 'Extra Innings' in Cincinnati; with former player Darrell Rodgers. I would assume it's because WGN has so much regularly schedule programming.
  2. Watching the Reds - Cubs opener and it looks rather empty; the emptiest I have ever seen it on television. But I assume only because of the cold weather. I guess the true fans come out on bad weather games and for sunny afternoons, the businessmen and Execs head out to the ballpark.
  3. Absolutely. But Scott Boras messed that up for him pretty badly. I wonder how much of his contract was guaranteed.
  4. Didn't take Valentine a long time to hit the headlines as an unpopular figure in Boston. That Kevin Youkilis situation was mighty dumb on his part. Keep it in the clubhouse, don't put things out in the open for the harsh Boston media.
  5. Chapman won't be a starter. No way he would be able to throw 100+ miles per hour as a starter.
  6. Whats hilarious is that they can't demolish it because they're afraid it will damage the adjacent Reliant Stadium. It's costing tax dollars to maintain it and tax dollars to pay for Reliant. Huge mess.
  7. A good one. lol. From what I've heard, the police don't do much in the Dominican other than committing crimes themselves.
  8. Moyer debuted before I was born. And I'm out of college. : ) Simply amazing considering all of the wear and tear pitching in the Major Leagues does to your arm. I bet Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan still have aches in their shoulders.
  9. I guess it depends on how many games you attend per season. I am proud to say I saw Bonds hit one live a few weeks before he broke Aaron's record. What a circus that was.
  10. With the way this Reds game is going, I would have to say the Astros series. Sad to say, they just look like a triple A team out there. Need some big free agents and more minor league talent comparable to Starlin. Give Theo a few seasons.
  11. How happy were you with Derek Lee as a first baseman? He deserves a shot but if you look at all of the successful playoff teams they have first basemen with huge contracts and they all will hit for 32+ home runs per season. Will Bryan give the Cubs that? I doubt it.
  12. You would have to be a douchebag to go out of your way to do that. lol. Still pretty funny. And he would have to sell the domain name, they couldn't seize it from him.
  13. I bet he's banged a lot of girls. (MLB player)
  14. He probably just wants to sound more ethnic now that they have a stadium in Little Havana with Ozzie Gullien and Jose Reyes.
  15. The Reds are going to be the favorite in the Central this season. It's going to be interesting in St. Louis with Pujols and La Russa out of the picture but they have plenty of money to blow and have some key free agent signings. How far are the Cubs away from the central crown? Theo is great with putting the right pieces together, veterans with young talent, etc. Will he succeed with less money to spend than in Boston?
  16. You can usually purchase season ticket packages on Ebay and Stubhub. You just won't be able to get the tickets renewed for the following season. Season tickets are a big commitment, especially for primarily day games. Don't know why anyone would do it for baseball, the heat of the day games especially in the bleacher area is unbearable.
  17. Here is a link that has the hotels the Cubs will be staying in when they visit other National League cities this summer. Cubs Hotels Great way to meet the players.
  18. Anyone know what his job description is with the Cubs at the moment? Odd for a guy to go from a coach to "administrative duties". I understand he was Piniella's guy. Random topic, just thought of him for some odd reason.
  19. My old boss applied for the Cubs catering job months ago. He was well qualified. No interview, no call back. I'm sure 1000's apply for these jobs.
  20. We can sit here all day and say the Cubs should do this and that but we don't know about all of the finances even though you think you do on paper. Still have a lot of behind the scenes people to take care of. The Cubs are one of the wealthier teams, top 5. Why not focus less on minor league development and more on free agents like the Red Sox and Yankees?
  21. I understand that Cubs tickets are very profitable on the secondary market. But as true fans, why would you want to commit 82 of your nights a year to baseball? I guess I just work too much to understand. I do however watch every home game from the house while attending 6-10 games a year. (Reds, not Cubs)
  22. Sounds very similar to what Jerry Reinsdorf did with the Bacardi project at US Cellular Field. Good idea though, anything to create more fanfare and things to do around the stadium will help attendance and atmosphere. Not that Cubs games lack those things...
