Stewart homer, we've gotta be feeling good about his spring, no?

 

Let's see, his wrist still hurts and that's his first home run in the homer-happy Cactus League.

 

So, no.

 

8-20 with 2 doubles and a homer, plus 3 walks? I guess if Joe Mather is looking like Babe Ruth so far...

edit: and a nice defensive play that he got a standing ovation for too...

I just for the first time realized the A's and Mariners play a regular season game next Wednesday in Japan. So stupid.

I hate seeing him have a bad outing, but my honest guess is it'll take a perfect game out of Wells to beat out either of Shark or Volstad.

Yeah, I think the rotation is pretty set at this point.

 

I don't think Samardzija was getting the job based on his ST results, but just on what they saw out of him last season and his apparently ability to build up to being a starter.

I'm not that worried about DeJesus. First, it's only spring. Second, his walk rate looks decent (12%) and third, although his AVG is down, half of his hits have been for extra bases. His spring baBIP is .216 and he's hitting almost everything in the air right now. It's either a very small sample, or he's become a totally different (and worse) hitter than ever before. I'm taking small sample, which is to say, it's only spring.

Through 3 innings, Smardz has thrown 19 pitches, 15 of them for strikes. Not bad at all. 2K and 2H. 0's everywhere else.
