I have no idea where to put this, and don't really want to go to Game threads quite yet, but from today's intrasquad:

@ESPNChiCubs Wow. Szczur just tagged up and scored from second base on R. Johnson's fly ball to the wall in RF.

Brett Jackson led off the intrasquad with a HR off T. Wood.

Are we sure it wasn't to left field? I could see Soriano letting that happen.

Padilla and Muskat tweeted RF, so it was on DeJesus. Wind's blowing out pretty well apparently.

His name is too ambiguously ethnic.

Italians have been granted white guy status ever since Rocky came out.

I can attest to this

Was this gem of a quote posted yet?

"He’s a lifetime .260, .265 hitter that’s hit home runs and getting 200, 300, 350 at-bats a year. That’s like hitting .300 as an everyday player when you can put those numbers up playing once, twice a week pinch hitting.

Sveum is just a placeholder in my eyes. He's a guy who will keep the dumbass meathead fans happy with his managing style and quotes while Theo and the boys retool the system and bring in a real manager when we are ready to compete. I think this will be many of the WTF quotes we get from Sveum throughout his time as manager. All I really expect and ask of him is not to [expletive] with Castro, especially, or any of the other young guys coming up this year and in the coming years (Rizzo, Jackson, McNutt, etc.)

I think Sveum is the real deal. While the bench coach in Milwaukee he showed a willingness to do some pretty risky things when the numbers backed them up (like applying the pull shift to right handed batters). Theo and Hoyer have experience with him from when he worked for the Red Sox.

He's not a placeholder.

Yeah, he's here to stay until he fucks up/the team keeps tanking. If they wanting to keep the meatballs happy they would have just hired Sandberg.

That's not a terrible thing for a manager to say. What harm is there in blowing smoke about some pinch hitter?

Darwin Barney is my favorite and I love him and hope he's a Cub forever.

I'm interested to see what sort of contraption you come up with to watch games focusing on Barney at 2B while at the same time, preventing your eyes from seeing the Thing just a few dozen feet to his left.
