Williams deserves a chance to start at LT. I don't know whether he'll beat out Webb or not, but he deserves a chance. I still would love to see us sign McNeill, if he's healthy enough to play. My guess is we'll spend the majority of our draft on O Line and LB next year as it is.

As for Gaffney, we don't need him. Our first 4 of Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett, and Hester is the best we've had since I can remember. Jay is going to have some serious fun this season, for the first time since he's been a Bear.

The Bears need to sign McNeil. It makes sense and it would offer depth and potentially an above average LT barring any injuries.

I'm sure he is waiting for a medical clearance. Maximize the money he can sign on a 1 year deal. If this happens its an absolute no-brainer to sign him. I don't know what the cap is like, but cut Spencer if you have to. There will be other teams in on him though so hopefully Tice likes this idea too.

The only thing that worries me about McNeill is that no one has signed him yet, meaning he may not be passing any physicals anytime soon. Philly was hot on him a few weeks back and before the draft after losing Peters, but they didn't really address that position in the draft, so if McNeill was semi-healthy, I would imagine he'd be signed already.

Isn't Forte sort of handcuffing the Bears from adding other free agents at this point by not signing on the dotted line?

Yeah, McNeill can't be healthy or he'd be generating more interest. I wouldn't hold my breath on him.

LM: #Bears have agreed to terms with second-round pick WR Alshon Jeffery on four-year contract.

that was fast.

It shouldn't be hard to sign your draft picks these days, but is there anybody signed who was picked ahead of him?

Hope he wasn't desperate for his signing bonus to pay off his tab at Hardee's.

I believe he's the first draftee to sign.

Positive me is hoping this means he's ready to get down to work and not [expletive] around.

Are there still Hardee's out there? The Hardee's where I grew up all became Carl's Jr. They made the best Mushroom/Swiss burger ever, twenty five some odd years ago.

Glad to see him signed so quickly.

Yes, dammit. I better never lose my hot ham and cheese.

100% agree. If they ever get rid of that sandwich, I'll have no use for that place.

Do they still make that ridiculous Mushroom and Swiss Burger?

And to avoid totally derailing this thread, I read an article the other day that said that assuming Johnny Knox will be on the PUP list, the receiver corps would likely be Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett, Hester, Weems and Devin Thomas and Dane Sanzenbacher battling it out for the last spot. If Knox can somehow have a miraculous recovery, the receiver corps is deep. I'm really excited about the offense Cutler has been provided this offseason.

The receiver group is already deep. The top two guys are question marks for different reasons, but Knox's presence, or lack thereof doesn't really matter to the depth. Because it's not like you can keep them in the minors. Multiple guys will get cut.

I think Sanzenbacher is a much better WR than Thomas or Weems. So, if Dane doesn't make the team, I'd imagine Hester would see a lot of time in the slot backing up Bennett. I think Hester may fear for his life in that situation.

Cliff Stein has a reputation for getting contracts done in quick order for Chicago Bears draft picks, and that held true Wednesday with word that wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has agreed to terms on a contract.

Jeffery, a second-round pick out of South Carolina, received a four-year deal. While the exact amount of the contract is not known, the deals are pretty much slotted now. He’s probably getting close to what the Denver Broncos gave safety Rahim Moore, the 45th pick in the 2011 draft, a year ago. Moore received a four-year, $4.448 million contract. The deal included a $1.73 million signing bonus.

The Bears’ rookie salary-cap pool is $4,189,971. The deals for the team’s six draft picks cannot exceed $23,044,841.

Incorrect. Carl's Jr. is in Peoria. But, when doing a search of Hardee's in Illinois, I found some of those in Peoria as well. Hmm.

ETA: Hmm. I searched for Carl's Jr. in Illinois and nothing came up. However, I know for a fact there is at least one in Bartonville. My dad drinks coffee there quite often and I've passed by it numerous times. Carl's Jr. does not serve the mushroom and swiss burger that I became so fond of in the mid '80's.

And there are Hardees in Missouri. The East/West thing is generally right though.

All of Hardee's became Carl's Jr for a while, and the Hardee's that are out there now are a kind of a hybrid thing.
