Like Sulley, I'm not a big fan of Chandler Jones. I think raw doesn't like him either.

Yep. Getting hyped because of his long arms, big hands, and plays with good strength. Looks like an athlete and getting drafted high based on that. But he doesn't look all that athletic (going by combine numbers and on field) to justify that. No quick first step, no edge speed. He's a bull rusher that has to rush to the inside of the tackle or stunt with a DT.

Strange, but Mike Mayock thinks Chandler Jones could end up being the best defensive player in the draft in the next few years.

To be honest, I see red flags with Mercilus, Jones and Coples. Thats why I think I've changed my mind with going DE and I take a DT or CB at the 19th spot. One of Brockers, Gilmore or Kirkpatrick should be around.

Who knows, Perhaps the Bears are looking to move into the top 10 for Fletcher Cox. They worked him out privately for a reason.

Chandler Jones also missed 5 games last year to due to injury, I thought with Emery we were also past the "picking guys with medical flags" thing?

Did Emery pick him already and I somehow missed it?

Don't see the Cox thing happening. I think Philly will move up for him or Carolina may take him at 9. I think the Bears only come in play if he gets past Carolina at 9. Seattle at 12 is a prime trade spot. I'd go from 19 to 12 for Fletcher Cox in a heartbeat provided the trade package was reasonable.

I think anything is possible at this point. I was sold on Mercilus and even open to Chandler Jones, but the more I sit and think about it, I'm able to rationalize avoiding both players. There are about 4 blue chip prospects in this draft, the rest are gambles.

Speaking of Seattle, NE has inquired about trading up to their spot.

if the vikings take claiborne, what would you all say to the bears trading forte and the 19 for the 4th and taking kalil? i don't know if they can get a better return than a pro-bowl running back and a first rounder for it.

I would hesitate, big time.

I would need to figure out a way to get their 2nd round pick in that situation. Forte, 19 and 50 for 4 and 35? I don't know. Forte and the 19 should be worth a lot. And they'd be coming out of this draft down a RB.

yeah, good point on the 2nd round pick.

Forte, 19th pick, and our 3rd round pick for No. 4, their 2nd Rnd pick and Hardesty?

I think we may be over-valuing the Bears side of a potential trade up here, no?

Think about it this way. If the Bears traded 19th pick plus X for the 4th pick, what would the relative value of X be if it was only draft picks?

I think it would take the 1st round pick next year and maybe a 3rd or 4th round pick. Does anyone see Forte's trade value being equal to a 1st and a 4th? I certainly don't. Not with the way running backs are valued in the NFL these days.

I don't think the Browns would be interested in Forte plus 19 for 4. They shouldn't at least.

I'm not trying to equate it to what the proper value is, I'm saying I don't like the idea of coming out of this draft minus Forte and the 19 and getting back the 4.

I'm not disagreeing at all. I just don't think it's a trade that can leave either side happy, let alone both sides happy.

Last mock for WalterFootball has us taking Brockers, Zeitler, Dwight Bentley, Keensn Robinson, Tim Fugger, Deangelo Peterson, and some OT named Kelly. That'd be a decent draft, in my mind, but I wouldn't be jumping up and down over it.

That'd be dope! I'm OK with that even though I'm not sold on Brockers. My thoughts on Brockers are about the same on Chandler Jones. But Brockers gets the huge edge based on the fact that if his only skill is stopping the run, at least he plays the right position for that skill.

I'm not sure if Kyle Adams will be back... gotta keep a Boilermaker on the roster!

I'm sure the Bears are going D at this point, but Floyd is still my top choice. Would be more than fine with Mercilus. Not a huge Jones fan. Of course, if Cox drops out of the top-10, you have to make a move. Tonight (and the rest of the draft) should be a lot of fun.
