I live in SD and VJs problem is going out. I've seen him at the local bar down the street many times during summer. He's usually dancing alone wearing a hat low so nobody recognizes him. He's got 2 DUIs

a) Is it possible to sign Mario Williams and also trade the 1st round pick for Wallace? Because I would prefer that to signing VJax.

b) What were VJax's off the field problems?

a) It is possible. I think Wallace would require a 5/$50Mil contract. Probably front loaded with 10-12Mil this year. And if Peppers signed for 6/$91Mil....Mario Williams will get more. I'm thinking 7 years for probably close to $115Mil. Depending on who you ask the Bears (with Forte franchised) have between 21-28 Mil left in cap space. IF you structure the Williams contract correctly, should be able to fit both in. Probably not doing anything else at the point in free agency...but that probably wouldn't matter too much.

b) Jackson has DUIs as has been stated.

He's gonna LOVE The Hangge Uppe!

I think it's 28 mill, minus the Forte tag, leaving us around 21. Rookies also have to fit in there as well. Hopefully, we cut Barber, Spaeth, and Spencer, depending on how much more cap room it'd create. Combined, they're scheduled to make 10 mill.

Pittsburgh created a pretty decent amount of space, so I really think we'd have to frontload a contract for Wallace to where he's getting 12 to 15 mill in year 1. Personally, as great as Mario is, Jerome Mincey makes more sense for us. It could be possible to get him, Grubbs, and V-Jax or Wallace, if we create a tad more space.

I'm just not real keen on signing VJax, something about him just doesn't "wow" me. Maybe it's his age compared to cost, his production which I think should be higher or his past off the field concerns.

And here I'd have guessed he'd be a PB or downtown kinda guy.

The 28Mil number was very low end that's being reported by most Bears' writers. That number also didn't include Adams and Omiyale being cut. So, that alone would take it to 23Mil now including Forte (28M + 2-3M from cuts - 7.7 Forte tag). I've seen people that claim to be pretty good with how the cap works say the Bears STILL have about 30-33Mil after tagging Forte. My guess is the number is somewhere in the middle (will never know true number with crazy NFL cap rules).

If the Bears did get Wallace, it would make sense to also go out and sign a DE. As now you won't get a top 50 player (though I do like Cam Johnson in the 2nd-3rd area). However, if they sign Jackson, I'd bring back Idonije for cheap and then go DE in the 1st. I'd be happy with whoever is there between Perry, Coples (long shot), Mercilus, Ingram, and maybe even Branch.

Too many MMA wannabes out there. Yogi's is a good place to go to where people won't bother an athlete because most people on the coast don't care about sports. I've never seen him drinking a bunch, just basically hanging out. I could be wrong, but if he gets another DUI he's looking at a big time suspension right?

Yep. 3rd strike = year long suspension.

Idk, if Jackson is set to get that much in free agency I wouldn't want to overpay either. Sign williams and Manningham/ garçon/ Wayne and draft WR

I'm on board with this idea. I think its best to go after Mario Williams and then take a veteran receiver in free agency. At the very least, you can get Carr or Finnegan to help @ CB.

VJax also got arrested for cranking his car stereo to loud before a game. IIRC, he ended up being late for the game and the team suspended him for that move. I think this was on the heels of his 2nd DUI.

There are downtown hot spots where the athletes hang out. Yogi's is probably just close to where he lives.

Bears will not attempt to re-sign Hanie. No shocker there...

http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/7654144/chicago-bears-not-bring-back-caleb-hanie

McCown impressed the Bears' coaching staff last season and is considered a strong candidate to be re-signed, perhaps as the No. 3 quarterback. That would allow the Bears to pursue a more high-profile No. 2 quarterback in free agency, such as Kyle Orton, who might strongly consider returning to Chicago in a reserve role if he fails to land a starting job somewhere else in the league. Orton, however, would probably require a hefty contract by backup quarterback standards.

Somebody will give Orton a starting job, won't they?
