That almost made me cry... If any team can make some noise after the loss of their star it's this one.

I almost hope they don't win it all just for the fact that Derrick may actually jump off a building to not have been part of it. This is ridiculously horrible in so many ways.

Wow, if that doesn't pump you up, you have no heart. If ... IF ... this team somehow wins a championship, it jumps all the way to no. 1 over all of Jordan's championships as the most satisfying.

If there is no cartilage damage, he could be back working out in 2-3 months.

Really?

Usually an ACL is 3 months of recovery and 3 months of healing, depending on the severity of the tear and any other structural damage.

only my [expletive] teams. i'm eager to find out what's next. no city has had this amount of injuries from their star players.

the prior thing still hurts like a [expletive]. when will the collective curse end?

I know; I remember that one promising kid, Mickey Jordan or something, fell in front of a bus just after getting drafted. WHEN?!?!?

oh no not mickey when did this happen

One would think Philadelphia chances increased with the Rose injury, I believe they've decreased. The Sixers didn't suddenly get taller and more physical than the Bulls. Nor did the Bulls get shorter and less physical, if anything, they're going to play with a greater sense of desperation and harder most especially on defense.

That's crazy talk right there. Their chances went from 0% to maybe like 8%. Well still get past the Sixers but their chances have definitely improved.

Maybe so, just trying to put a positive spin on the matter, maybe too positive.

I'm more disappointed in the fact that we won't get to see Bulls vs Heat with both teams relatively healthy. I was really looking forward to that series.

That said, I think my biggest fear is that Rose will never be the same. It's real tough to pull a positive out of this. Anyone know of any NBA players who recently tore their ACL? I'm interested in comparing their explosiveness pre and post injury.

I'm wondering if, after he recovers, we'll see pre-injury Rose again, is he going to be forced to change his game?

It really depends. He could end up like a Tracy McGrady/Gilbert Arenas or a Chris Paul. Depends on a lot of things. I'd imagine that if anyone could do it, it'd be him.

I was thinking about Rose' future as well, once surgery is done, does it fully heal?

RGIII and Welker both tore ACLs and came back to dominate so I'm going to ignore all other counterexamples and assume Rose's recovery will be equally successful.

And don't forget Chris Paul who came back to dominate at the same position

Rotoworld's blurb seemed to expect him to be back for training camp, for whatever that's worth.

That sounds like a really stupid idea.

Might not actually be that far off, though. 6-9 months is the general estimate and the season doesn't start til November.

It doesn't make the idea any less stupid. The NBA regular season is meaningless, and Thibs doesn't seem capable of taking his foot off the gas. If Rose doesn't play til January, who [expletive] cares? What's the worst case scenario there, they wind up a 3 seed?
