I have to say, when the game is on the line the guy I want shooting the three pointer is Brian Scalabrine. Cool game Bulls. :hello:

Yup, especially when you have the MVP on your team.

Hey Derrick, Rip was 6-19 tonight, you don't have to keep passing to him instead of doing something yourself.

I'm just glad that regular season games don't mean much because that game was incredibly frustrating.

I have a feeling both sides will be saying that after every matchup this year. They're both physical and with tough defense and that creates some interesting sequences out there. The one near the end of the first half and then the one at the end of the game were loose ball situations that I haven't seen much of in other games.

I still don't see the Pacers being able to beat the Bulls in a 7 game series (especially since I know right now the Bulls are a lot more banged up than the Pacers are, who are basically just missing Foster), but the games will all be really tough.

Rose disappeared in the closing minutes. A superstar player takes over the game and drives the ball for whistles. That pass to Scal made me explode.

It's worth it just for this.

He already gave up on the Bears in favor of the Pats. Perhaps he's going to be a celtics fan now

scalabrine is .345 from 3 for his career, and he was wide open. rose drove and had nothing. that was a fine shot. deng is .328 for his career. would we have been mad if he took a wide open 3 for the win?

How much of that .345 were shots from 7 years ago which was likely the last time he regularly played regular minutes and took shots that mattered?

I'm not necessarily against him taking that shot, Rose was super passive the entire 2nd half so since he insisted on passing I'd like it to be the wide open guy, but I've seen people flaunt this .345 as if he was a 3 point specialist or something. If he could be counted on to hit 3's 35% of the time, he would get more playing time.

"Super Passive"? Rose didn't do anything in the second half.

He played 19 minutes and went 4-10 in the entire second half. There is no excuse for giving up the ball to Scal to take that shot, let alone the coaches decision to put him in there. It's the rare moment that Rose gets the blame for the loss and perhaps even the play design at that particular moment in the game.

shot .365 in the 5 years previous to this one. shot .368 in his 5 years with boston.

he's a decent three point shooter (definitely as good as deng) and he was wide open.

How's Deng's % look over the past 5 years?

.352

since thibodeau got here and he started shooting more than one a game, he's at .345

Would you have been okay with Mike James taking that shot?

if the guy was wide open and rose has nothing at the rim, i'd be okay with that shot from anybody who is a decent three point shooter.

he was WIDE OPEN

Huh...I really thought I'd come in this thread and read more about how this game was lost on the boards. That's where it seems to me that the Bulls didn't play their game. They ended up only 3 rebounds down, but they were really not coming up with rebounds and loose balls the way they normally do.

Michael Jordan would not have kicked that ball to anyone else, it was winning time. That's why he never passed to Steve Kerr in the closing seconds of a pivotal finals game.

Or Bobby Hansen.

Yep, would never have happened.

Well, he wouldn't have passed it to Jack Haley, which is basically what Scal is at this point.

The guy had an open look. He's good enough to be in the NBA. I have no problem with how that played out. At all.

Yeah, too much is being made of it. I was fine with it. The shot didn't fall. There's lot of other things to complain about in that game. I think I heard this morning that the Pacers had 50 points in the paint? That's awful.

BTW, KC Johnson said on the radio this morning that both Deng and Gibson could end up playing in the Miami game.

This is what I'd be most worried about, that this loss causes Thibs to panic and bring back Deng (and to a lesser extent Gibson) too quickly.

It's probably either that, or just take the loss. We *should* be 17-4 when that game rolls around. Why not just go 17-5, then clobber the Wizards the next night. Rest them through. It's a heck of a road trip coming up.
