There's your multi-level parking lot with entrances on Addison and Clark, as well as room for a restaurant and museum on top. This leaves the triange building as more of an in-game revenue draw.

There has to be a McDonald's on the property, so that restaurant will be serving Big Macs.

I don't get it.

From the Tribune story

The agreement with the Ricketts family calls for a McDonald's restaurant to be included in any future redevelopment of the property.

Oh, the other one just says foreseeable future, which I assumed meant until they actually build something there. That's fine though. McDonald's can co-exist with a real place. Or the restaurant can go in the Triangle.

Leon Durham? Didn't he hit 5th and Moreland 6th on that team?

That doesn't look like Durham at all. It's probably Sarge.

Bet it was Gary Matthews and it was this game

Given the condition of the ivy I bet it took place in April and not September.

It looks like a guy with decent height who is somewhat lanky. Doesnt' look like Sarge to me. Leon Durham PH in that game and got on base. Keith Moreland #6, PH as well and didn't get on. My guess is it's Bull with Moreland at bat.

Also, Kent Tekulve is on the mound he wasn't in the box score you posted but is in this one. And the 9th

Leon Durham pinch hits for Larry Bowa (SS) batting 8th

b9 4-4 2 --- CHC L. Durham C. Guante 3% 56% Single

Richie Hebner pinch hits for Lee Smith (P) batting 9th

b9 4-4 2 1-- CHC R. Hebner C. Guante 5% 61% Single; Durham to 2B

Kent Tekulve replaces Cecilio Guante pitching and batting 9th

Keith Moreland pinch hits for Henry Cotto (CF) batting 1st

Yeah, they could integrate it pretty easily. Maybe even make it a more upscale-type one -- similar to Rock 'n' Roll but Cubs themed.

Most definitely Kent Tekulve pitching there. That guy is unmistakeable. Sure looks like Dawson on first with those bowed legs, but can't be. Doesn't look like The Sarge's body type either. I'd have to guess Durham but doesn't really look like him at all.

Good call. I didn't know anything about the Pirates players so I couldn't try to glean anything from that.

I had guessed late in the season because the caption on the picture said that balloon was put up for the playoffs in 84 (which obviously couldn't exactly be right since they didn't play the Pirates)...but overlooked the condition of the ivy itself. April it definitely is.

Thread is sort of making me want to buy that Cubs DVD set just to watch some of those older games/highlights.

I used to do the Kent Tekulve wind up just for fun. That guy is unmistakeable.

Indeed. The wind-up and glasses were a dead give-away on Tekulve. I went to look if he was ever on the Pirates when Dawson was on the Cubs because that so looks like Dawson on first. They were never on those two teams at the same time. Nice edit, Jersey. lol

Let me get this straight: Ricketts buys a valuable piece of property and Theo buys a mansion while Jed is looking at Varitek, Wakefield, Barton, Scott, etc.

Something is wrong with this picture.

How long has it been a McDonalds? I seem to remember it being something else when I was a kid during the late '70s. I always wanted to eat there but never got to go.

I started going to Cubs games in the late 70's, but I was still pretty young then. From my recollections (probably moreso the early 80's) it was always a McDonald's. We'd get food there and then take it into Wrigley to eat while we watched BP.

Somebody needs to tell Jed that there's money to spend.

if it's early 1984 like jersey said, the runner could be mel hall.

EDIT: it's durham.

If it's that game, then it's Richie Hebner.

And we all know that isn't Richie Hebner.

It would make more sense if The Cubs got Wakefield, Barton, and the mansion, The Red Sox got the McDonalds Parcel, and The A's got Scott and Varitek.

Hoyer's collar has two stripes on it, and Rickstein's only has 1.

Are they planning to turn it into a McDowell's ?

I've always thought it'd be easy to turn the Golden Arches into the Golden Arcs. And regular buns just make sense.
