Oh, and didn't see this anywhere else:

Huston Street to Padres for PTBNL.

As an aside, everybody pronounces PTBNL as "put-bunnell" in their heads, right?

jaysonst: GM who spoke with #Rockies says they're insisting Huston Street deal "never agreed to" & still not done. Teams working thru names & issues

jaysonst: More Street: Same GM says #Rockies still talking to at least one other team about Street & insisting #Padres deal isn't done

Pirates are close to signing Eric Bedard. Could be a good move for them depending on the contract.

Agreed. Should be a very low base with some decent incentives. Probably better than giving a nearly 37 year old Hiroki Kuroda 2/$27.

I actually pronounce it as "a player to be named later".

Not anymore you don't.

Ken_Rosenthal: Source: K-Rod may accept arbitration from #Brewers. Not definite. But closer merry-go-round could leave some without chairs.

I think these guys are just reacting to Papelbon and Bells contracts and think it will cause teams to stay away from big ticket closers but in reality I think all of them, K Rod, Madsen, Lidge, Cordero will end up with 2-3 contracts once they come to terms with the fact that they won't be getting the kind of contracts the other 2 got.

i go with pee-tee-bee-en-el

same.

in a slightly related story, i was talking to someone last night and said "en tee cee" instead of "no trade clause." not my greatest moment.

jcrasnick: You can add the #RedSox and #Yankees to the list of teams that have expressed interest in pitcher Hiroki Kuroda.

Kerry Wood would like to return to #Cubs but wants raise over last year's bargain salary. A reasonable request.

Figured something like that was going on, since he hadn't signed already.

What reasoning would they have for dealing Davis that isn't "we're terrified of him coming back from microfracture surgery"?

Ike Davis is more interesting than Gaby Sanchez.

Not sure why the Mets would shop him; he's no even arb. eligible until 2013.

Edit: didn't see TTs post before mine. That is concerning.

None that I can think of....but they are the Mets.

It would be more reasonable if we needed him more and he hadn't already stated repeatedly that his only options are the Cubs and retirement. He doesnt exactly have a ton of leverage and his budy isn't in charge anymore.

I'm going to be very amused if the Marlins finish the off-season with only 2 big moves -- signing Reyes and trading Hanley because he's pissed off.

I'm somewhat humored by the fact that (if they sign Pujols) they'd have approximately 330 million wrapped up in 2 players. I remember the stink the Cubs got for spending "$300million" and practically revamped the team.

You'd have to think that the Marlins could be screwing up many teams plans by throwing all of these years and dollars around. If a team has a plan in place but see that the Marlins are offering higher than the the comfort level some other teams might want to offer, it has to completely alter their plans.

The Marlins are altering the winter meetings, which is actually laughable considering that they are a small market team that can not draw fans.
