Sources: Cutler broken thumb; likely out rest of reg season

post what he says please

Nothing really new:

- Talked about keeping his spot warm.

- Praised Jay, blah blah blah

- Of note: He will not have surgery today, but very soon. Still expects him to return for playoffs, basically.

- While they are confident in Hanie, the plan is to pursue a veteran on the market.

veteran to start or to back up Hanie?

god I hope its the later

He was very clear that the current plan is to go with Caleb at the helm. He noted that while they also like Enderle, they prefer to have 3 active QBs on the roster.

Anyone notice Knox not run out the play on the INT? He slipped obviously but he got up with plenty of time and didn't run it out ala Cutler.

Cutler hurt himself much earlier in the game.

Go with Haney, bring in Bulger in case of emergency, and dumb down the offense. Bears go 3-3 and get in at 10-6 and hope he's avail. by then.

Cutler was yelling after the play. The announcers thought he was yelling at the refs for a previous play, but he was clearly yelling at Knox that he needs to get up and finish the play. Falling is one thing, but if he'd gotten up immediately, he could've tackled the defender with the ball.

I thought he got up pretty quickly but by the time he reacted probably assumed it was a pick 6 and didn't bother going after him besides a medium paced jog.

Hoping to be back before the end of the regular season is pretty much the best news we could have realistically hoped for today.

Also, haha @ Broncos fans. I'm sure they were looking forward to their "Christ vs. Satan" matchup with Tebow and Cutler.

um, I'd much rather have Cutler in there to give the Bears a chance at building a cushion to prevent the possibility of one drive determining the game.

I'm sure they will happily live with Hanie Tebow

So who do they go sign?

A quick list of available QBs who know Martz's system:

Bulger

JT O'Sullivan

Jon Kitna

Other guys out there:

David Gerrard

Jake Delhomme

Trent Edwards

JP Losman

...?

A whole bunch of crap.

This is just far out of my scope of reasoning that it blows my mind; it's like the "he's soft" talk. The guy has had the absolute [expletive] kicked out of him since he's come here and all he's ended up with is a relatively minor knee injury, a concussion and a broken thumb (all while playing with diabetes) and there are people who think he's fragile? If he was actually fragile he'd have been crippled or dead a while ago.

A headline on deadspin this morning is: "For Some Bizarre Reason, A Jay Cutler Injury Is Shocking News"

There will be a perception of Cutler as soft.

I guess I'm looking at this from the perspective of a Bears fan, so yeah, I guess non-Bears fan aren't going to pay as much attention to them as I do, but I had no idea Cutler being easily injured was a "thing." They're acting like last year was his rookie season or something.

Cutler being durable was a thing, but then came the concussion, knee and now thumb. It will become a thing.

So dumb. "QUARTERBACK SACKED AN INSANE AMOUNT OF TIMES! UNRELATED: IS EASILY INJURED!"

i'm going to ask this question with what i hope is an un-antagonistic tone

why does it matter, even in the slightest?

rationally, you know he's playing whenever the medical team clears him, the fans aren't booing him, and Angelo basically staked his reputation on that trade so that you know he'll never become trade-bait, so the public perception is effervescently meaningless. but you guys are getting all Peter Cetera over him, like he's your little sister or something.

the old meme here was that Stafford was the glass cannon and the new meme is that Suh's a dirty player*, both of which i disagree with and i guess i'll argue about it a little bit but i don't really care that much if some people have misapprehension about football players on my team

*Fairley is, though

Rats....my mistake, he's still in Dallas.

What the hell is your post even about?

Annoying people spouting annoying opinions annoy me. That's why I'm not looking forward to the idiots spouting off on Cutler again.

Zach Zaidman on 670. Said Cutler had thumb looked over extensively by several specialists and is reporting that the Bears got the best possible news given the situation. Last night there was fear that he was going on IR. after tests today they are now going forward confident that Cutler will be back for AT LEAST the playoffs. The plan now is actually or Cutler to be back for the last regular season game against Minnesota and if absolutely nothing goes wrong week 16 against GB is not completely out of the question.

All in all, great news.

And currently injured in Dallas. At least that's what I heard this weekend.

In the interest of being thorough, Jeff Garcia is out there too. Heard he's under consideration in Houston. Also, Culpepper.

actually, we think the entire team is dirty. but I agree, I dont give a [expletive] what a Lions fan thinks of Cutler, much less anyone else.
