Some guy over at Bleacher Nation is reporting we signed him. Don't know how reputable this guy is. He was saying earlier how it was down to the Cubs and one other team..

Not credible. He shows up once in awhile with a rumor he read at PSD and turns it into a fact.

Jorge Soler is a RF profile guy. BIG power, big arm, ok fielder, holes in swing. He's not historic and he's seen as ready for Low-A.

 

i agree with this, and in a normal situation throwing around numbers like $30m would be an outrageous overpay, but we're a month from a system where amateur (international) free agent spending is strongly capped. pretty much a perfect storm for jorge soler, that's for sure.

@BenBadler Folks need to remember Jorge Soler is the same age as a college sophomore. He's at least a couple years away from MLB.

@BenBadler Don't think it's likely, but for tax purposes, Jorge Soler could spend the year in the DSL, depending how his contract is structured.

Why is PSD such a great source for Cubs insider news? When did those guys pass us in popularity? I remember going over there 2008 and found there wasn't as much discussion as there was over here.

They're not close to as good of a board as here. But they do have a group of solid posters. They do have one thing in particular that this board doesn't though. And that's Marlin, who clearly does have a very legit source, as he's broken quite a few moves. He's not right 100% of the time, but his track record is excellent. They have some other solid guys too, Yagyu has done the best job of anyone on the internet keeping up with draft signings. Those two guys are why I check them out for sure. They do have a good core group on top of them, that would contribute nicely here though, without a doubt. Edited by davell
