I'm not davell, but from Cinci we'd want robert stephenson and corcino/sulbaran (assuming hamilton is off table)

Corcino's a little guy, throws really hard. Cueto may be a decent comp. Stephenson was a 1st rounder last year, throws mid 90's. Tony Cingrani is a lefty that's risen quite a bit this year as well. Corcino and Cingrani are probably top 100 guys at this point. Devin Mesoraco would be a damn good get. He's struggled, not playing enough as a rookie for Dusty. But he's a future AS Catcher. Then, there's Billy Hamilton, who I can't imagine they'd trade. But he'd make me like stolen bases again, needless to say.

Stephenson has been throwing even harder than that this season.

Toronto has tons of young pitching. Noah Syndergaard throws mid to upper 90's. Has borderline ace potential. Justin Nicolino is a tall, very thin, projectable lefty with excellent control. Aaron Sanchez appears to be their best pitching prospect. Righty, throws mid 90's, control improved quite a bit. Ace potential. All 3 of them are in A ball. They also have John Stilson and Deck McGuire in AA, Stilson's pitched well in his first pro season. Throws hard, may wind up as a back end of the pen guy. McGuire's struggled, but he's got a shot at being a 3/4 guy. Command's been off this year. Adonys Cardona and Antonio Osuna are recent IFA signings that have electric arms and either could wind up as the best pitching prospect in their system. Drew Hutchinson is out with a shoulder injury, but had pitched well in his brief stint in the majors at 20. Sanchez, Syndergaard, and Hutchinson are all definite top 100 guys. Nicolino could be as well. The young IFA guys will be, just not this soon. They also have Jake Marisnick and Anthony Gose. Toolsy as hell CF's. Gose in majors now. Marisnick in AA. Both top 50 guys. Travis Darnaud probably untouchable. Hurt right now, but top 15ish C prospect. Honestly, they are stacked. I'm sure I'm missing a few guys.

Assuming Hamilton is off the table, Mesoraco would be almost a must-have to make a Cincy deal really attractive. If it's Toronto, take your pick - their system is absolutely loaded with young talent, especially pitching.

I was gonna say there's no way they'd part with Mesoraco, but I overlooked the fact that when dealing within the division, that's the kind of deal you might be able to expect. Somehow I get the feeling Hamilton is more of an untouchable commodity than Mesoraco is.

I don't think there's any question about it.

I really kinda hate Billy Hamilton, and I don't have any reason why. I find myself really hoping he fails.

I tend to agree, but I questioned it because coming into this season Mesoraco was not only their #1 prospect, but the 16th overall prospect in all of baseball (and the #1 catching prospect overall... well #2 behind Montero, but he's not really gonna stick at catcher)

KG had Hamilton above Mesoraco even before this year.

Gotta be the No one ever on this earth has ever been as fast shtick from KG and the 500 times he's basically mentioned that.

Was going to say the same thing. Still, Billy Hamilton is awesome.

Same here. I have a really irrational hatred towards basestealers mostly based out of the slobbering meatballery they inspire.

I'm already dreading Hamilton's arrival. If he has any amount of success in Cincinnati there will a be collective meatballing the likes of which haven't been seen since Ryan Freel "dirty" t-shirt giveaway night.

Give me Mesoraco.

Okay, one guy hating him for no reason is one thing... wtf?

They talk about "meatballery" and such when honestly the quotes and jokes in some of these threads is some of the most "meatball" [expletive] you could ever find.

a guy like billy hamilton who steal like 150 bases and turn any line drive to the wall into a triple is fun as hell. i hope he sucks because he's going to be in our division, but really i hope the reds trade him and he turns out to be awesome.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Cubs are "not overly optimistic" about trading Matt Garza before Tuesday's non-waiver trade deadline.

The Cubs want a strong return, but teams are "leery" because Garza is sidelined with what is being described as a minor triceps issue. The Cubs might be better served to wait until the offseason to find a deal. The Reds, Blue Jays and Rangers have been mentioned as potential suitors in the past 24 hours.

On the bright side, this technically comes from the New York Post.
