There is a chance Carolina could see the first starts by John Beck and Christian Ponder in back to back weeks.

Maybe we can win one of them.

They've really screwed the pooch on these Monday night games. I wish they could flex in the best games

They can I'm pretty sure, just not until Week 10 or so.

Carson Palmer is headed to the Raiders.

For a first rounder too

Two first rounders.

The Raiders first pick in the 2012 draft will now come in the 5th round.

EDIT: They don't have a 7th rounder either, but I guess they're going to get compensation picks for Asomugha and Gallery.

Possibly 2!!

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the Raiders are close to a deal that would send Palmer from the Bengals to Oakland for a first-round draft pick and a conditional future pick. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the conditional pick is a 2013 first-round selection.

I wonder what the condition is. Geez.

Makes the Cutler deal look like grand larceny.

Possibly 2 first rounders. A horrible deal for the Raiders although they might feel desperate to get back in the playoffs. I'm not even sure Palmer is in the top 20 QB's in the league at this point.

i thought the raiders would get smarter after al davis died

i love this. dalton is clearly just as good as palmer now, with the potential to be a lot better.

It's great news for Bengals fans.

Did the Raiders forget that Palmer has sucked?

Better that what they got currently, but overpaid in a way that Al Davis would have been proud. If Mike Brown turned that down he deserves to be forever banned from football. Of course most Bengals fans would argue that he already does.

maybe he's secretly a genius and assumed jason campbell one way or another wouldn't work out, and was holding out the entire time for the raiders to blow him away

There has to be a veto mechanism like in fantasy, when a trade is just so outrageous you can't let it go through....

apparently oakland popped in some bengals game tapes from like 5 years ago and didn't watch anything since then.

they should offer the raiders chris henry for a 7th and see if they bite

Yeah, they have to wait til next year when the Raiders have a 7th.

They gave up way too much especially because the Bengals really didn't have any leverage unless the Raiders really believed that the Bengals were willing to let his contract run out and get nothing for him.

That said, Carson Palmer is not a bad pickup purely as an addition. Yes he sucked last year when he was supposed to be leading the Bengals to victories. But in Oakland all he needs to do is make throws when needed and hand it off the rest of the time. He's certainly a better option than Boller. Since they got off to a good start this year and Al Davis died, they obviously want to make the playoffs this year, and Carson Palmer, for all his warts, is certainly a better choice to get them there than Boller or whoever else.

that said, Carson Palmer of 2011 has like 25% of the value that Jay Cutler did 3 years ago and the returns for both are somewhat similar. Raiders will regret this trade sooner than later.
