maybe this belongs here, espn reporting that teams have contacted the bears about forte. i would do it for an NFL player and two #1's.

I wouldn't

I would. Unless he's a hall of famer in the making Forte might not have a lot of miles left on those legs. For cap purposes, a franchise tag this offseason and then letting him go might be the right decision, if not a trade before then.

100% agree.

And before this morning, I probably would've thought two 1's would be enough.

A team would never offer two number ones for Forte, but hypothetically, you take that deal and run. Forte is only this extremely valuable to the Bears because of Martz goofy offense. You replace Martz this off season and you have three number one picks to add to the oline and wide receiver.

I think he's this valuable because they have a passing game that utilizes the RB, but also because they don't have anything but okay receivers to go along with it, and don't have a line that can pass block enough to go deep more often.

OK, well give me an example of an NFL player that you would expect to get back for Forte. I understand the short shelf life of an NFL RB, but you are talking about a premiere one that puts up numbers comparable to Peterson (according to FO). He's litterally the only offensive weapon we have besides the QB, and we have a GM that refuses to acquire weapons for the offense. Not only are you punting this year, but you are probably punting the next one or two years after that by making the move.

That said, its not completely unreasonable and what sulley suggested is a fair price for him if you wanted to trade him. I just think he's too valuable to us for the next 2 years at least to trade away. But yeah 2 years from now no matter how good or bad he is, its something I definitely consider.

That is an absurdly ridiculous statement. This year, sure. But this is the NFL, there is absolutely no reason why they couldn't be right back in it next season. Forte may not be worth a damn in two years.

Except for the fact that he ran for the most yards, scored the most rushing TDs, caught the most passes and scored the most passing TDs of his career in Ron Turner's jank ass offense his rookie season.

He has had a higher YPCarry and YPCatch in the Martz offense though.

Forte's gotten way more valuable since he decided to shoot horse steroids and break tackles. He never, ever used to be able to break arm tackles and now he's running through them with ease and stiff arming like crazy. His jump cut is one of the best in the league now too

Of course I would deal him in a heart beat for 2 #1s.

Do you honestly think if Jerry Angelo is still the GM he's going to all the sudden be aggressive at drafting/signing offensive weapons? He's had 3 years to build around Jay Cutler and he's given us....Roy Williams and Marion Barber.

He's been aggressive in the past. I honestly think that if they traded Forte for 2 #1s there is no way they could take 2 seasons to get back on their feet as an organization.

Of course you make that trade, no matter how valuable Forte is to the offense. You take those first rounders and you could replace Forte with a running back with fewer miles (Richardson?) or get a really good receiver (Blackmon/Jeffery?). Maybe OL or some defensive help.

Geez, no brainer.

Would be awesome to add 4 first rounders to the offense in the next two years.

Too bad the defense would be just about ready to suck horribly (if it doesn't already).

i think they would, [expletive], carson palmer just got traded for a #1 and a potential #1. forte's value isn't going to get any higher, he's been really really hyped this year as the cornerstone of the bears offense, when in actuality, the cornerstone is overwhelmingly cutler.

if we could get a serviceable safety back, which won't happen, that would be icing. but if we could parlay forte into a first round tackle and receiver, it would serve his replacement very well.

Palmer's still a QB though and I'm still astonished he netted 2 first rounders. The Raiders are the only team that makes that deal. No way is Forte's trade value that high.

i think the offense would be enough to keep us afloat until we can restock the defense. this is, however, assuming angelo is a better assessor of talent.

yeah, palmer's a quarterback, but he's a mediocre quarterback. forte, as has been shown, is "52%" of the bears' offense.

Pay no mind to anything the Raiders do, if they still had any picks left, and didn't have the stud McFadden you might be able to fleece them.

After the Hershel Walker trade, I can't remember any prescience for a running back netting multiple 1st round picks.

If we lose this game our playoff chances take a pretty big hit, so if that happens I would probably do the trade if the return is anything like you guys have been describing.

I'm fairly certain that if you wait to see how this game plays out, you will no longer be able to trade him this season.

nobody like forte has been traded from a team that still has hopes of being in the playoffs.

Hester was in line at Rivers Casino in the Chicago suburbs when a 52-year-old man walked up behind him, slapped him in back of the head, and walked away.

Hester told security, who detained the man. Daniel Rago was ultimately charged with misdemeanor assault.
