So Hoyer is going to continue being SD's GM when FA opens even though his boss told him he could leave bc his assistant is getting his job? And Theo is going to be Boston's GM and the Cubs won't have a FO at all?

Psycho Larry probably finds this hilarious.

Levine throwing all kinds of water on this.

Also said Cubs can't really hire Hoyer without Epstein in place.

Why not?

See above.

Let's assume for a moment that there's even a 1% chance that Epstein to the Cubs falls apart.

Hoyer's not going to quit his job in San Diego if there's a chance he has to work with someone other than his superbestbuddy.

The Cubs aren't going to hire a new GM if there's even a tiny chance they have to find a new President (who will presumably want some sort of say on the GM front).

See above, doesn't make any sense.

theo should get dirty and start smearing the sox.

I'm pretty sure that's against his contract and they could recoup some of his salary for that. Plus, why burn a bridge, even though his bosses are acting like toddlers?

We'll have Randy Bush and Crane Kenney. I hope Crane Kenney signs Pujols and takes all the credit.

You don't smear out in public where people can prove it was you.

They're really doing this just to be assholes, they think the fans and organization are desperate for him so they're just doing this so we have nothing in place and we can't start our process and plan what they plan on doing. Like a bunch of little greedy kids over there.

Seems like baseless speculation by you.

They're like a kid threatening to take their ball and go home. Assuming that Garza, Castro, Cashner, Jackson, Szczur, and McNutt are all of the table, I'm not sure what they could be asking for at this point that would still be holding things up this much. If it's what it takes, I'd be willing to hand over any 2 guys from Daytona or Peoria aside from Szczur. That's what they supposedly want, right? Guys like Antigua and Kurcz have great ceilings, but are they really worth holding back the future of the organization and losing out on a guy who can help us find many more guys like them and better?

dave kaplan blocked me on twitter

: (

Ugh, me too. I only called him a dolt. He blocked me for that? Thin skin.

Probably was pissed off and started blocking tons of ppl to vent. Hard to blame him, if Levine is right, and there was a deal in place.

The Cubs can not only offer Hoyer a lot more money than the Padres, but give him the kind of payroll that he'd never come close to overe there. I think that for that he'd be willing to wait a year for his buddy to join him and risk the chance that it doesn't happen. And please nobody come back with any Crane kenney related comments. Ricketts has already said that the new GM, whoever it is will have a [expletive] off Crane clause in his contract.

Well, I'm just filling in the blanks if we assume what Levine said was true.

That's a huge assumption at this point. I'm inclined to assume the opposite at this point.

If they officially hire Hoyer and later the Epstein deal falls apart, then the Cubs go without a President.

Hoyer isn't working with Epstein, sure, but he's now the head honcho, reporting directly to Ricketts.

Not seeing the problem with that situation, if you're Hoyer.

I think it's good advice in life to not trust anyone named Larry...i.e. Larry Luccino and Larry from Three's Company
