I just got back in town. Is the compensation finalized and if so, what was it?

It's not been finalized. Cubs and Sox still working on it and Theo said a third party (Bud presumably) could get involved.

Did any reporter ask about Jed Hoyer?

nope.

Chicago Media fail.

it might just be that they were told not to ask about that since it isn't officially done.

one thing i thought was interesting was how he said he 'learned from his mistakes' and will focus on signing players that he'll have during their prime years (which he defined as 26-32).

i wonder if that's a sign that he'll be more focused on prince than pujols this offseason

I took that as he's regretful of the Crawford signing

pretty good negotiating stance to take with Pujols.

I thought this as well because of what he said.

Apparently Theo can't talk about Hoyer yet since he isn't in the fold. I'm guessing they asked the media not to even ask about Jed.

Watched most of the PC, and heard the rest on my way back to work on the Score. Immediately after, Macneil says how he loved Theo's answers, but was disappointed that nobody asked more about the seperation of power between Theo and Crane...

Stop being obsessed with Crane Kenney!!! Good lord.

He said all the right things. I wish someone would have asked if he has put any thought into the Zambrano situation, though I recognize that it's probably too early for him.

So between Epstein's comments about possibly putting more money into player development initially (which would be a good thing), his statement about players' primes and paying for future performance, I get the impression that the Cubs will not be big players in the Pujols or Fielder derby... and I'm fine with that.

Wasn't it pointed out fairly early that everything having to do with baseball operations is Theo's responsibility and he reported directly to Ricketts? Seems pretty cut and dried, of course I'm not obsessed with Kenney.
