It's finally official!!! YES!!!

But what did the Cubs give up? I can't truly celebrate until they announce that...

Oh, what the hell...YEAH!!!!!

The die is cast on that. Whoever they gave up, they gave up, and I'm not going to let some sort of objective assessment ruin how much fun this is.

Suit yourself. I love ruining fun.

That presser is going to be something else. First order of business, who's managing next year? After that, who's on first? And I really have and want to believe Ricketts also wanted Theo (top 3 GM in the game) in the fold to add instant credibility to make a push at Albert/Prince. Edited by Hollandsworth's mug

A dark, dark day in Cub history. Never Forget.

Game 7 of World Series?

Posted

Actually I really don't know what happened on that date. I know the World Series was going on and having that rain delay game, we were about a week from the election and a lot of people were invested in that, Derrick Rose's first ever NBA game was the night before, and it was a Wednesday so I doubt football had anything to do with it.

I'm stumped.

Game 7 of World Series?

Sort of. It was Game 5 of the 2008 World Series, the final and deciding game of that series. Phillies won 4-3.

Best I can tell, that's the night the Phillies won the WS. It was also at the height of Cuban-mania.

Yeah, that was the interesting part about that year's deciding game. It was started on a Monday and completed on a Wednesday.

From Sully:

Crane Kenney was not supposed to be involved in the hiring process, but the Ricketts family believes he was instrumental in helping lure Epstein, according to a source, assuring the Red Sox GM he would have total control of all baseball-related decisions.

i think kenney just wants to get as far away from the baseball side of things as he can. that way no one can blame him for anything.

He severely underestimates the ability of the Chicago media to hold a grudge.

I really hope Theo gets Albert.

Albert > Prince

Better hitter, fielder, better body for aging.

Just IMO, I know there are many who view Prince as the better option, and that surely can be argued.

Yes. Pujols would be the greatest signing ever for so many reasons, starting with taking the best player in the game off of the Cardinals.
