I'm not falling for this crap again. Won't get my hopes up until the press conference starts. I feel like a chump.

You must be new to the fandom of the Cubs. We are all Charlie Brown, but one day soon we'll get the little red headed girl.

Dude, it was 8th grade, time to move on.

so, the deal is off and the red sox have balked?

so, then we hire hoyer, have him start getting things in order, kenney technically handles the pres of baseball ops for another year, but hoyer is the czar. theo sits out for a year, and then takes over and we give nothing up?

that doesn't sound too bad for us, but like a disaster for the red sox.

What's the latest?

Red Sox sources saying it's not really done.

they are saying a deal is not close again, so we are back to square one. I think it's time Selig steped in and forced something, cause this is [expletive] ridiculous. I think we need to bring out the "I want to believe" posters again and start quoting wutang lyrics, maybe that can be our Theo-raindance so to speak rofl. This is going to drag on well past the end of the World series folks.

The deal is not off and the Red Sox have not balked. Talks of deal being done were premature, John Henry says not close.

if we were close and now we aren't, it means the RedSox balked. I'm thinking that they had a deal in place and then when Henry saw it he said no, go back to the table and wrangle more out of them.

I'm not sure how the sox can make Theo sit out a year. He's their GM. They can't just sit him on the bench like a grumpy slugger.

I also can't imagine him going back to work there either. That's why I think it will happen. It will take as much time as Henry can drag out of Ricketts. It's a huge PR mess for them. Dragging this thing out is about the only face saving gesture they can do at this point. After it's over they will sling mud on Ricketts and Theo and hope the masses buy it all.

I could have told you that 10 days ago.

Well then why didn't you say anything?! Why did you keep it a secret?!

Kaplan now saying this is nothing more than last minute postering by the Red Sox and that the deal will get done.

The Red Sox figure they can out wait the Cubs on this one.

Or we weren't ever close.

No, "the reports were premature" means the deal wasn't actually close.

Everybody knows this is getting done. It's just a matter of when.
