And its official.

3 Phoenix Coyotes vs. 6 Chicago Blackhawks

4 Nashville Predators vs. 5 Detroit Red Wings

We know those 2 series for sure. The 1,2,7,8 seeds can still change

Cue the homers thinking the Yotes will be some cake walk.

Not at all. Mike Smith has been pretty much the hottest goaltender in the NHL, and the Hawks historically struggle against Phoenix I believe.

My early prediction is Yotes in 7, only because I can't see them closing out the Hawks at the UC.

Edit: Last 3 seasons against Phoenix

2012 1-3-0

2011 2-2-0

2010 1-2-1

Total 4-7-1

Hah, the Coyotes were one of 4 teams that actually had a worst PP% than the Hawks.

That said, the Hawks were 27th in the league in PK%, while Phoenix was 8th

I think the Hawks/Coyotes series is really hard to pick. Will Toews be back? Will Phoenix's hot finish carry over? I think if all things remain the same I would pick the Coyotes, but Toews returning would be huge for the Hawks.

Bulls vs Heat and Blackhawks playoff game should make for a good birthday evening for me.

Same for me minus the Bulls-Heat part. :hello:

Toews will decide Thursday if he's playing. No news flash there. But the quotes from today sound very promising.

I honestly know very little about Phoenix, but I'm happy not to be playing Nashville. And the Hawks beat the Red Wings. And finished with 100+ points. Good day.

They're a poor man's version of the Preds. Not quite as boring but not as talented either. They're getting good goal tending from Smith but the series will probably come down to how well Crawford plays.

Danielle didn't practice today and is unlikely to play tomorrow night.

Not looking past anyone, but a second-round matchup with VAN might be a bigger "bloodbath" than PIT-PHI.

I have a feeling Vancouver will be golfing after round 1.

They can have a second parade with the coveted Presidents trophy because that is all that crap organization will ever win.

I'm trying to think of a good comparison to Vancouver in another sport. Just off the top of my head, it would be the Vikings. Always seem to be pretty good, occasionally they have a scary good season and seem to be locks to win it all then falter hilariously in the playoffs. And to top it off they always seem to have a few douchebags in big roles for them.

The Braves wouldnt be a good comparison because they've actually won, and they were annually at the top of the standings for over a decade whereas Vancouver was middle of the West good until the last 2 years. The Cubs wouldnt be good because we suck most years. The Mavericks would have been good until last year.

Cleveland Cavaliers? Cleveland Indians? Cleveland ?

Vancouver reminds me of the Blues before their downfall.

Yeah I agree with that. Though I didn't hate the Blues like I do the Canucks. Maybe I was just too young and didn't hate Brett because his name was Hull.
