I think the 6 seed is still the most desirable. I want nothing to do with a Hawks/Predators matchup, and while a Hawks/Wings matchup might be beneficial if Jimmy Howard is hurt, I feel like there is still a bit of a mental block with Detroit. Plus, despite good results this year, the Wings still matchup pretty well against the Hawks and play a similar style of hockey.

The 6th seed was only desirable if the #3 seed was the Stars. Now that it looks like LA, I'm not so sure 6th is better given that, as 6th seed, there is virtually no chance of having home ice at all.

What exactly is the mental block w/ Detroit? Last time I checked the scum hadn't beaten the Hawks in regulation at all this year.

I'd still rather play LA than Detroit or Nashville. The Hawks have had the Wings number this year, but every game has been extremely close. I'd rather not face a team with that much skill until we absolutely have to.

I'd rather enjoy the fun of seeing them play Detroit than the inevitable "first goal Crawford gives up and the game is over" series against the Kings.

right now I have a hard time seeing the Red Wings being anything but a one and done. If it wasn't for their really good first half I don't think the Wings would be making the playoffs. I think the Hawks would beat them in 5 or 6. Preds may sweep them.

Henrik Sedin has more assists than Kane has points.

Imagine had Kane shown up the entire season? He'd probably have at least 90+ points.

You mean that guy who basically changed positions from Wing to Center?

Toews said he has passed NHL concussion protocols but indicated he is not completely symptom-free.

"I'm very close to that," Toews said. "I'm just tying to work my way back to whatever that might be. There are always little things here and there that trigger it. It's not a perfect thing that I know what to expect at every given part of the day. It always seems to be different. I'm just tying to make sure every part of my life is back to normal first."

Added coach Joel Quenneville: "(Toews) is going to come on the trip but we're going to rule him out. It's all part of the process."

Meanwhile, center Dave Bolland also will miss the game against the Wild with an upper-body injury. The veteran will make the two-game trip and could play vs. the Red Wings. Veteran winger Andrew Brunette is questionable to play as he recovers from a right foot injury.

Gonna be awfully thin at center tomorrow night.

Well thanks for nothing St. Louis. Give up two goals in last six minutes and Detroit gets at least a point.

Credit to the Wings though. Shows their mental strength and focus to come back in such a raucous building tonight.

I think the Blues are very beatable in the playoffs. I also think any team that has to play them in a series will be completely wore out if they do manage to beat them.

Yeah no doubt. They have no margin for error with that offense. But they'll put a team through the ringer if they can make it a long series.

I was rooting for Detroit last night. Give me Phoenix in the first round, please.

Over the last few days I sort of fell in love with the idea of jumping into the 4th seed. But need a lot to happen to get it now.

I'm afraid of goaltenders who can get hot. The problem is, almost everyone in the West has that except us.

Q is rolling the lines tonight. I don't think he's all that concerned about the outcome of the last few games or where the Hawks end up.

Some guys really want to get some playoff starts. Frolik, Morrison and Hayes are bringing it so far tonight.

If the Hawks can win before the shoot out, the last game against Detroit will be interesting. The Hawks would be 1 point behind Detroit and tied in regulation/OT wins, meaning that any type of Blackhawks win would push them ahead of Detroit to end the season (the 2nd tiebreaker is non-shootout wins, the 3rd is number of points in H2H games which the Hawks would win).

If the Hawks win in a shootout, they would need a non-shootout win over Detroit to pass the Wings. If the Hawks only take 1 point tonight, they would need a win in regulation (detroit cant get a point).

Also, as far as Nashville goes, the Predators are up 2-0 right now, if they do in fact win, the Hawks chance of getting home ice is over I believe. The Hawks would be 2 points down with 1 to play, and they would lose all tiebreakers as Nashville clinched the regulation/OT wins already and dominated the Hawks in H2H

Nashville loses...the best the Hawks can do is the 5 seed. No thanks.

Dallas is officially eliminated, meaning the 6 seed will be playing either LA, SJ or Phoenix.

Hawks lose again in the shootout. Stuck on 99 points. Would be nice to get a point in Detroit because 99 sounds much worse than 100

4 of the last 5 Hawks games have ended in a shootout. The Hawks are 1-3 in those shootouts.
