Is it just me or do the Hawks just look like a fantastic team thus far, results be dammed.

I agree, I have that feeling that was felt 2 years ago where I feel they can when every game. Granted it's hard to say how tough their schedule has been (this game and the last one are against good teams based on last years results).

I think this could easily be a high seed and team that goes deep in the playoffs though that's off of two weeks of play or so.

Yeah, we're starting to look pretty damn good gentlemen. I said before I didn't see the damn giveaways in the zone like last year. I'm no expert, but that's really the suckage we had to solve above all else, correct?

This team can be very good in '11/'12, I'm becoming convinced of it -- early as it may be.

I dunno I still saw a couple of really sucky turnovers in our zone tonight. It's gonns happen to every team on occasion but when it occurs because of lazy passes its something that should be addressed. I'll excuse Keith's turnover as normally he wouldn't collapse onto the ice randomly without any pressure.

Great dominating win though. Fun as hell to watch.

But were they part of the pattern we saw last year, or just a couple random sucky turnovers? That's probably the difference.

I would say spending too much time with the puck in our zone and making lazy passes follow the pattern of last year, but its too early in the season to suggest its as bad as it was last year.

It definitely was a bit of a problem in the third period when they were up by two goals. Honestly, though, that was a pretty dominating performance. Keith's losing an edge is really all that happened to keep Phoenix in the game. LaBarbera was pretty solid for them in the net, and it took a bit for the Hawks to really start cleaning up down low. A couple of offensive keys to the win: 1. Net presence; and, 2. Winning board battles.

labarbera looks like derwood.

even though kane didn't score in this game, he's off to a nice start, could this be the year when he puts up 100 points?

it was like old times out there.

Is Duncan Keith ever going to remember that he was good at hockey once upon a time?

That was fun. Very reminiscent of 09-10 when we would just blitz the opponent into oblivion.

Didn't get to see the game last night.

Was Carcillo still on the 2nd line?

I'd feel much better if Duncan Keith would stop making 1 horrific turnover that leads to either a goal or a great chance per game.

The real difference this year vs. last is the ability of the 3rd and 4th lines to contribute. The 3rd looks awesome. How did the 4th look?

Duncan Keith was the only player on the Hawks with a +3 last night. Yes he fell that led to a goal. But players on both teams were falling down all game. It seemed the ice was crap, as it was 99 in Glendale yesterday. Ill give him a pass

Hawks looked good. Phoenix is barely an NHL team. I mean, look at that roster. It's not even fun bad. Just bad bad. I did love Bolland's short handed goal though, didn't even pretend to hide the big slapper.

Those are a couple good points, but it is still a little disconcerting that Keith keeps having the same issues that plagued him last year.

Phoenix is atrocious, and that Bolland goal was funny.

I agree and think part (but not the only reason) of that is that Q keeps pairing him with Leddy. Nick is talented as hell and is going to be good, but he gets physically mandhandled almost all the time. I think it sometimes leads to Keith having to do more and getting caught in bad spots.

Bolland and Hossa are showing just how important they are to this team,m and Frolik is really underrated. The Bolland-Frolik-Bickell line is **expletive** awesome. Remeber how bad the third line was most of last season? We might have the best 3rd line in hockey now.

It always amazes me how Phoenix contends for playoff spots because you're absolutely right. That roster kind of sucks.

Well they did have a pretty mediocre offseason last year, so I'm not surprised that they don't appear all that talented so far. That said, their roster looked back last year too and they were a top 6 seed.

Yeah they were a good team last year. Lost some key guys and Tippett did a great job.

Those are the games the Hawks should dominate and have to win. Glad they did. Now let's knock Colorado down a few notches.

If it's necessary to split up Marlboro 72, Leddy/ Seabrook, Keith/ Hjalmerson makes a lot more sense to me.
