I feel like this Rangers vs Senators series has been pretty low profile for a series featuring New York's number one hockey team who is pretty good.

I would guess that it has everything to do with the opponent. The Senators are not a high profile team, the casual fan doesnt know much about them or any players on the team. And New York is expected to romp them so its not getting the attention it normally would if it was a tougher opponent. Oh and they are Canadian and they are not one of the sexy Canadian teams (like the Habs, Leafs, Canucks), so that immediately turns off some American fans. I would expect to see the attention to ramp up for them next round.

The series itself is quietly interesting. Some of the time, NYR clearly looks like the much more dominant team, but at other times, for whatever reason they struggle. I don't know if its NY taking them lightly or what, but if they lose this game (about to go into OT), it could get interesting.

I'm pulling for Ottawa myself, their coach used to coach my area's minor league team and he has a cool mustache.

wow 10-3 Penguins. They could have used some of those goals in the previous 3 games. Or at least the next 3 games.

I'd say the defense is the more important part. If they had allowed three goals in regulation in all four games this series, they'd be up 3-1 in the series. It's hard to win games when you give up eight goals twice.

after my initial being upset about losing, I am glad the Wings lost rather easily in the first round. I think the front office needed to be shown that they are not that good. They need at least one more top 6 forward and have for several years. It became painfully obvious down the stretch and in the playoffs. They need to let Holmstrom go. I think they probably need to not resign Cleary either. Stuart is gone and Lidstrom probably needs to go ahead and retire.

They need a faster player to with Datsyuk and Franzen on the top line. Also, some youth/grit infused on the 4th line. They probably do not need any dmen even if both Stuart and Lidstrom are gone. Smith is ready and if they really need one, they could probably pick up someone at the deadline. A FA dman will probably be overpaid.

giroux's first round: 6 goals, 8 assists, 14 points, +6, 6 even strength points, 3 shorthanded points, 5 power play points. BEAST

not going to lie, I am going to miss the Edmonton/Calgary circa 1986 series that the Flyers/Pens just played

honestly I would think that Hawks fans would be cheering for the Canucks. I would think you would have much rather faced them than the Preds in round 2 if you make it.

Worry about that if we ever get to that point. I'd rather watch the Canucks fail hilariously than have a slightly better chance of getting to the WCF.

Have both number one seeds lost in the first round before? I assume they have.

No. However, that only goes back to 1993, before that the playoffs were set up differently.

i picked the kings (aka flyers west) to win the cup before the season... guess i'll stick with my kings over bruins prediction. can't believe the rangers are struggling so much with ottawa... as a flyers fan i'd be thrilled if the sens could take out the rags, since the rags won all 5 games with the flyers.

Was really hoping the Capitals would close out the Bruins yesterday. Boston had 3 ridiculously good scoring chances in 3 minutes of OT yesterday though.

So is it 9 years still left on that Luongo contract?

Yeah through 2021-22. Wow.

Although the number isn't all that bad in the short term. I think they will find a taker.

Yeah, like some desperate playoff contender that thinks they're just a goalie away...
